  1. Wow, great job, Matt!!! And what a fast build! I am envious!
  2. Cockpit looks really good, Jamme!
  3. That gear is amazing!!! Great work!
  4. Here is the notes from my review ( http://www.largescaleplanes.com/reviews/Af...itXVI/spit.html ): "One of the highlights of the kit or conversion set is the decals. A 7 1/2" x 13 1/4" sheet printed by Cartograph, the decals look great and provide a wide range of choices. These choices include 2 RAF squadrons, 1 RCAF squadron, plus markings for aircraft of the South African, Hellenic, and Belgian air forces. Most schemes listed are for Ocean Grey or Ocean Grey and Dark Green with the exception of Air Marshall Sir James Robb’s Light Blue aircraft. The original IXe decals are also provided so there will be many decals for the spares box! (Note: The decal sheet doesn't fit on my scanner, so I have just shown was does fit, missing are some more roundels and stencilling.) With research many other schemes are possible for the post-WWII aircraft of other nations including the all-silver ‘Black GE-D’ with clipped wingtips of the Belgian Air Force. Greece also stripped their Spitfires of paint sometime post war. Other notes on decal schemes: SAM Publication’s Modeller’s Datafile on Merlin Powered Spitfires states South African machines were originally in standard RAF camouflage with revised roundels. Later (1950) most machines were repainted in a Dark Green over Grey scheme. Also in the Datafile, the Belgium air force aircraft ‘White MN*J’ is listed as a LF machine and therefore would have clipped wingtips."
  5. They don't tell you!!! That is one thing I wish the kit did a better job of: What variations go with which markings!!! As a matter of fact, I don't think they hardly mention using the clipped wings in any of the kits, IXc, IXe, or XVI... Now from my other ref's it appears the Belgium one is clipped. I don't remember if any of the others were for sure although it seems a lot of the post war birds were. I am sure some of the Spit aficionado's here will have more info. And I will add to it (if I remember) when I get home and have ref's in hand...
  6. Nice work! I saw that article about the color being mixed to match the dinner jacket also. Great looking model!
  7. Yup, that's them! Looks like 25 shells per pack. Looks like fun, doesn't it!?!
  8. I got a set around here somewhere. I will find it and check and get back to you.
  9. The rule of thumb to getting 'scale' images as Rally Jack has shown is to keep your lens parallel with the ground. The easiest way to tell this is to aim your lens at something in the background that is the same height off the ground as the lens. For the model, set it so when you are looking through the lens it hits something on the model that would be about eye level in real life. That will give you a pic that appears to have been taken by someone standing and looking at the real thing. Also, and that is why I know about this tip, buildings in the background will not have building sides that taper as they go up, but rather will be nice and square. First rule of taking architectural pics.
  10. Rotary is right, Mission Models .50 rounds are the best! More than a bit fiddly, but sure look realistic! http://www.missionmodels.com/product.php?p...=494&page=1
  11. I have both kits. They plastic is the same except for an added sprue in the Q kit with the gun pods and 4 air scoops for the nose area. Also, the Q has a different prop sprue with slightly larger props, and additional resin for the cockpit and radio deck areas. I am not sure if the resin items actually change the details, or just provide more crisp detailing. Other than that, the only difference is in the list of "not for use" items.
  12. New item for the Beaufighter AM list!! Quickboost Hedgehog exhausts: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/...em_num=QUB32052
  13. Yes, I am talking about Ultracast's bombs. I have no idea if they are correct or not as I don't have any ref's for them, I am just repeating what they e-mailed me several years ago.
  14. Looks great, Russ!!!
  15. Holy cr@p, Matty!! Going for 3 kits! Even with 8 months, I will be lucky to get one done! And I haven't decided what it will be yet...
  16. I inquired a few years ago and was told they were based on somewhat dodgy info and if he were to re-release he would look for new ref's and start from scratch. If enough bugged him, maybe he would give it a go.
  17. None that I am aware of. There is a Combat Models F4u-5 vac that I believe has the option of the nightfighter, but it is out of scale, more like 1/40th I think, and near impossible to match up with the Trumpeter kit to create a nice -5. So we have to pester Derek (as soon as he finishes his Beau stuff and Tempest kits).
  18. The paint turned out great, Jeff!!! Nice looking P-40!!!
  19. Beautiful build!!! Love the Canadian color scheme!
  20. Well, not hoping you bad luck with your job, but hope you do get a chance to make up some more kits! I have your Hornet kit and it is really nice! An Attacker and a Dinah would be awesome - and I promise not to gripe!!! And your Dinah looks fantastic!!! I hope I get to see it in person some time!
  21. Looking good, Chris!!! FWIW, I agree with the others on the colors, and with your interpretation on the profile. Your model will really kick a$$ with some paint on it!
  22. JR has a bunch of stuff for the Revell kit. Avionix also has some cockpits for the Hasegawa kit. Only Jerry's stuff is directly for the Revell kit, Avionix and MDC are sized for the Hasegawa kit, I am not sure how much 'adjusting' would be required.
  23. MDC has their cockpit for the Bubbletop, most should be useable for a Razorback: MDC P-47 Cockpit

    F-80

Hehe, forgot that part!!! Actually, I am reeeaaally careful with the sharp things; I am on Coumadin, so I bleed profusely when cut.
  25. It's looking good, Jon!!
