  1. Hmmm...like Dan I had always heard it was a quick ID marking for the Tokyo raids. I therefore assumed it was for other aircraft participating also, not just the Bunker Hill, but now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever seen pics or profiles of any other carrier group using them. Will have to check my references again on this one.
  2. All of the above!!! Need a new canopy, too. It's such a cool looking fighter, needs some TLC!!!
  3. Wow nice cockpit!! Much nicer than the standard kit one. Looking forward to seeing some paint on that one to reveal the detail.
  4. Thanks guys!!! Erwin, you are right!! It is a pretty darn easy kit to build, and the cockpit is really well done out of the box. The worst part was the cowling. The cowling doesn't match up to the rest of the fuselage very well, and the cowling front is a separate piece, so you have a joint going all the way around that weird shape to deal with. I almost just left it. After finishing this one, I went out and got the CJ-5 Nanchang - the Chinese updated trainer!!! It has a more typical radial engine front and is completely metal skinned, but it appears the cockpit is almost exactly the same. Actually I didn't buy it, one of my raffle tickets was drawn at the local model show, and that was one of the few 1/32nd kits that was available, so free is a very good price!!! A second winning raffle ticket scored me an Akatombo trainer - the same kit Erwin built - so I had a good day!!
  5. Looks good, Russ!! Will be looking forward to seeing it 'dirty!'
  6. Hmmm... I believe one of the B-25's in the Doolittle Raid was named "Green Hornet"...could that be it? Don't know if I would call it SW Pacific, but definitely PTO...
  7. All I am aware of is Scale Aircraft Conversions landing gear: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/...em_num=SCV24001 Trumpeters' own PE detailing set: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/...tem_num=TSM6604 The old Waldron British instrument set, and possibly some Warbirds products for the 1/24th Spitfire might be of use? The latest listing is a few posts down in this topic in the Forums: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.ph...amp;hl=Warbirds There is also a set of wheels for the 1/24th Spitfire by Contact Resine that might work in a pinch, or be converted to Hurricane wheels: http://design-marketingintl.com/product_in...;products_id=82 Hope that helps!
  8. Damn! That is fine work!!! I am curious to see how well all that wiring casts...Will look incredible if it comes out ok, I am going to need at least half a dozen of them!
  9. I am assuming you are not referring to the common use of this acronym, "She Who Plays The Oboe Alot," so I will have to think of something more aircraft related...how about "Swept Wing Plane Takes Off Accidentally?" I think you got me on this one Larry...
  10. ...And here are the pics!!! The oleo's on the landing gear have Bare Metal Foil Chrome added. Aerials are EZ Line. Hope you like it, it was nice to finally finish something!!!
  11. Believe it or not, I actually finished this one finally last week!!! I went ahead and moved it here as it fits - totally out of the box per IPMS rules. The only additions were seatbelts made of tape, and aerials added, as it shows on the boxtop. Pics to come soon.
  12. Sure looks good so far!! Will be looking forward to your continuation in March!!!
  13. Cool!!! So, I'll bite, how do I contact Olivier to order a conversion set??? Should be a no-brainer to do an AU-1, as I understand it, the -7 is pretty much a AU-1 with a -4 engine.
  14. Thanks for the info!!! I have yet to get around to producing these decals, although the artwork is all done. Easy change to go from black to white actually. One of these days...
  15. Looks good Edward!!! Would Mark58 offer it as a one-piece base, or the individual plates?
  16. I for one am hoping that Eduard follows their 109E with a scaled up version of their 1/48th Mirage IIIC!!! Nice kit!!!
  17. Great work, Derek!! I will definitely be in the queue for one(or 2 or 3) myself!!! -5 is a lot more work than a new cowl!!! Revised rear deck, revised canopy, totally different cockpit, new all steel wings, new ordnance points. Not that I wouldn't want to see one!! There has been talk...
  18. Cool. I will definitely have to get up there one of these days!!
  19. I have Accurate Armour's 1/35th V-1. It is pretty darn nice, though I haven't taken a ruler to it yet. http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct...amp;product=453 Also have the Horizon Conversions F-103/F-103R vac kit in 1/32nd. Basic, but do-able. I was thinking I would take a trip up to Paul Allen's new museum in Seattle to try and get some shots off his F-103R first before I attempted it. Have you made it up there yet, Steve?
  20. Wow, looking good, Graham!!
  21. Very nice, Erwin!!! Coincedentally, I just scored one of these kits in a raffle at a local contest.
  22. That would be good, Stephen. You ARE on the razor's edge of trolling with some of your comments. My finger has hovered over the delete key a few times, but I have resisted. Though you have finally put me over the edge enough to make a comment. Your comments on Dragon don't make any sense. You praise their AFV line for taking chances, yet downplay the aircraft line after only two kits? I must point out that if you are poo-pooing DML for re-doing aircraft kits already on the market, yet aplaud them for the chances they are taking on their armor side; you must know that DML has re-tooled their Tiger I twice, retooled the Hummel and Hornisse twice, Tiger II twice, Panther series twice, Shermans twice, and are currently redoing their entire Pz IV line, same with the Brummbar, and have been in an out-and-out war with AFV Club with the 251's, most having been duplicated between them, same sort of war with Tristar with Pz I's, Pz38t's, Shermans and now with Tamiya with the PzII's. The kind of duplication that would throw you into a apoleptic fit!!! Not to mention many of these kits - the PzII, PzIV, and especially the Tiger I and Panther - were done by Tamiya in the 70's. By your thinking, we should have all been happy with the horrible Tamiya kits, all tweaked in dimensions to be able to be motorized, rather than get new updated kits. I can assure you no one else in the modeling community is sorry to see the old Tamiya kits go (most which have been re-tooled by Tamiya btw). To DML, what with the war they are going through with other companies in armor, I am sure they are seeing a big opportunity in 1/32nd scale with what they probably consider no competition. The 30+ year old Revell kits are way out of date in regard to current tooling ability, multimedia parts, and for the most part, available research. While it would be nice to see all- new subjects, it is also very nice to see modern kits of some of the classics! I for one, in the process of trying to finish one of the Revell Mirages, with much swearing at the lack of detail and poor fit, would buy a new tool Mirage at the drop of a hat!!! So do what you want, vote with your wallet, but I think I can speak for many that keep your keyboard quiet for awhile and wait till we see what the outcome is. I believe if sales go well, we will see some new, sensational kits from them.
  23. WhooHoo!! Just got a note from Sprue Bros that my 110 is in the mail!!! So they have hit the States!!
