  1. sad, i was watching when she first started on 4x4. She was way too young to die.
  2. Have you checked with Montex? I used their masks for painting mine, see link in my signature. Check Maketar also, they made some custom masks for my cougar a year ago. However, you may have to provide them with a broken down drawing, most companies will not re-create other companies artwork.
  3. Sorry, I wish I had more definite answers, but the term "consolidated mess" was coined on this aircraft. I spent months researching this while building my B-24. I was not able to pin down anything exact, with over 15000 built at 5 different factories, and assembled from parts from different factories, there was no definite exact standard. And, as the factories were trying to reach maximum output, you will see that late aircraft often were uncoated and untreated, in trade for production speed. So, unless there is documented proof of a particular aircraft's colors, you can pretty much just pick a style and dare anyone to prove you wrong.
  4. Zero would be a great tie in to the Hellcat, and would have world wide appeal.
  5. It’s not an easy answer, each plant had different methods at different times for different components. The one constant is that the crew opening areas were dull dark green, which was black mixed with zinc green. Some different mixing looked more like a dark forest green. This was generally in areas around crew windows, so from the nose to the navigator compartment. Them from the ball turret to just behind the side gunner windows, then the very back of the tail, around the rear turret. Other areas in between were zinc in early aircraft, but later were left uncoated. This varied considerably. The bomb bay were initially neutral gray, but to me the color looked lighter. It’s hard to tell the difference between oxidized aluminum in an old aircraft and gray. I believe at some point, as the aircraft were unpainted, the bomb bays were also bare aluminum. Again, as these were build all over, and with parts from different plants, the colors varied between aircraft. An excellent book to see a 90% unrestored B-24 in color, is “The Soldier”.
  6. Nice work! Very impressed, can’t wait to see the RFI!
  7. I don’t use frisked for masking, but I use vinyl from Maketar, or use Tamiya Masking sheets. I only use frisked for transferring the masks to the model.
  8. Elaborate more on your situation... Are you you flying or driving? Are you staying in Hotels or with Acquaintances? Are you building small or large models? Are you just building small assemblies or do you expect to finish a model completely? How much space in your luggage do you have to devote to you supplies? these are all things you will have to consider. Some examples are, if driving, you could bring a small compressor and airbrush. If you are flying, you will have to be careful about flammable liquids and make sure they smaller than allowed. You will really have to consider a lot of these things.
  9. A year ago they made this announcement, they said “something big” is coming this year at Chattanooga. I’m going to guess it’s a 1/32 F-101 in 1/32. That’s my gut feeling, but I could be completely wrong.
  10. This is cool, and on my list of wants!
  11. I ended up getting a Curio, which is almost similar, but it has the ability to cut plastic sheet, supposedly up to .030. I have not hooked it up and tried yet, but in about a month I should have some time to play with it, my ultimate goal is to print a 1/33 paper model scaled up to 1/32 and cut out in styrene.
  12. An update, I just found and bought an old set of Superscale 32-101 Decals that have the 57th decals on that sheet. I will probably have to source a few decals, but I can make it work! Hopefully they are not so old that they shatter.
  13. I just figured out that the afterburner 1/48 sheet includes bonus 1/32 decals! Now, i have to try to find an old decal set that is long out of production...
  14. I completely agree, the Fokker is not a starter kit. The Pup is a great design, the kit has a low parts count, and design makes it easy to align the wings. Dont worry about rigging, do one wire at a time with ezline. The Camel is good kit, but has a 50% higher parts count. The Fokker E.I/II/III is a nice kit too.
  15. looks like Reid Air makes a sheet for single seaters, but not the double. Two Bobs only has 1/48. As the graphics are sort of simple, I could probably print them on clear decal paper, its the Agressor Sqd shield that is an issue. I may have to get the 1/48 sheet and scale it up.
  16. Next question! Did anyone ever make Decals for a 1/32 D Aggressor?
  17. I also found these...parts for converting to a D. http://partsrparts.homestead.com/F15parts.html
  18. It’s ok, I got the E kit partially started for $35 off eBay, it’s complete, but the fuselage had started to be brush painted, so this combo might save me some sanding, and I could probably sell off the rest of the parts, or make a long range C in flight. Plus I am intrigued about building an Israeli D or a US Aggressor aircraft like the one above by two bobs.
  19. I had thought so, I figured the Tamiya C had smaller mains, is this not the case?
  20. Thanks, this is my favorite model of all time. Every once in a while I go back and refine it. There are still 2 or three things I can refine, but for now, this is how it’s going to Chattanooga. Later, I may re-do the landing gear and fix the wing light.
  21. I’m hoping for some answers that I can’t figure out...I want to build an aggressor F-15D. I have both the Tamiya F-15E and the CJ kits, can I combine the nose and tails of the E with the body and landing gear of the CJ and make a D? It seems to me like it should work, but I’m not sure. I would appreciate any any opinions on this.
