Totalize got a reaction from Martinnfb in Robert Hampton Grey's FAA F4U-1D Corsair Decals
    Jennings,
There was a  #115 on board the Formidable but is suspected lost in action as a new 115 was apparently delivered by the baby aircraft carrier HMS Arbiter with serial KD658. This a/c was on board during the time of the VC winning mission.

Awesome! Thanks very much. I hope I can find that book. However, if anyone here has the decals and will not use them I would willing to purchase the set.

Yes for sure. You are correct as far as we know there is no incontrovertible proof he flew 115 or as some have said 119 which these people say was his personal aircraft. Many companies have made decals/markings for aircraft that were later to be found not to be correct. They went with what information they had at the time and I don't think this is an issue. However, one may believe there has to be iron clad proof but it seems given what information we have if we go with that logic a set for Grey will never be done and it would be shame not to be able to pay tribute to him with model of an a/c he could have flown.

Thanks for sharing that. As the article said, the East Coast-based HMCS Moncton was another ship that has been done in a disruptive scheme as well. I think it's very striking, and the whole fleet should be done like that.

They were done to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, and to bring to mind the heavy work that the Royal Canadian Navy did to escort the convoys across the Atlantic. It's often overlooked how much of the convoy work was the responsibility of the RCN.

    Hey guys.
I managed to complete a model.

39th Training Sqn Sgt Maj. Iwao Tabata, Yokushiba air base March 1945.

Being a training aircraft I wanted it to be old and tired.
Gunze Kawasaki army green upper airframe aluminium lower.
Weathering used: pastel chalk, pastels oils, artist oil pencils, artist pencils, Prismy silver pencil, minimal airbrushing used in weathering, no wash was applied. Aerial is stretched spru. My hands could use nothing else.

Why is my interior olive green I hear you ask? Back when I began this model I did some research (untrue, he found colour photos by accident. Dale just wants to appear all brainy and smart) and found colour photos of an old Ki-61 with olive, not sand yellow, interiors.

Comments criticisms, schisms, all other 'isms' etc appreciated. Hang on, no prisms!

Anyway, only took about 3 years.
