  1. Thanks, will look into this! I know of a B-Wing in preparation in 1/48 which will be impressive for sure, but not certain if it will be printed or cast in resin.
  2. The kit now has a real Star Wars feel, compared to the original toy-like appearance. It would be nice for a new large kit of the Snowspeeder to be available! Alain
  3. Amazing! Working with clear resin really adds a new dimension to miniatures! I’m certain anyone seeing your work will be as highly impressed as I ! Alain
  4. Most excellent work on the front landing gear and well! That 3D part is quite impressive, as it is quite flawless! Have a nice break with your daughter and her baby! Alain
  5. Hi, a satisfying milestone has been reached! All the extra detail on the top surface is done. First coat of primer. Overall view of the top half. Some small areas to work on to remove small defects, but quite nice in general. Next is to get on with the interior! Alain
  6. Yes I am, I have 2 kits in the stash I want to build eventually. I mostly have pictures taken here and there around the internet plus some books. I have researched the gear wells and cockpit mostly. I like the riveting on the kit. I lighly sanded the raised rivets (on a small area to test). The result looks like counter sunk rivets with a small depression around on the skin surface. Quite convincing! Alain
  7. Very useful description of your corrections! Thanks! Alain
  8. Simply blown away by the fuselage interior! Absolutely fabulous, but worried much won’t be visible when it is all closed up! Thanks for explaining and sharing the Apoxy Sculpt wiring! Brilliant idea! Alain
  9. Excellent work on the cockpit! Tried to build the Revell kit when I was a teenager but, with the Squadron book as reference, found it had so many flaws I couldn’t fix that it was turned into a sf model! A few years later (late ‘80s) visiting NYC, on the sidewalk in front of an army surplus store, there was one of these gunner gunsights complete with its articulated arms. Of course I recognized ii immediately! Price tag was around 75$. Didn’t have that cash on me as a poor student and also wondering how I could bring it back across the border into Canada riding on a Greyhound bus! Still a bit sad letting that opportunity go by… Alain
  10. Here’s one pilot’s description: »Two cylindrical projections on top, one below « .
  11. While we are waiting for our F-35 to arrive, the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum is getting their Spitfire airworthy! Could do a good job against the balloon invasion! https://www.warplane.com/aircraft/collection/details.aspx?aircraftId=36 Alain
  12. What a great looking cockpit! Sad about the quality of the Eduard set, but with your extra work it came out fine. Alain
  13. Thanks! The strange thing is the film miniature used kit parts to detail those areas, and I had to try to replicate them with scratch built items! Alain
  14. Time for a new update! I detailed the areas that were so bare in the kit with styrene rods and various bits to imitate what I could make out on the pictures I had of the right hand side. I made the left side similar but with variations of details. Still need to add more to the rear side of these parts, but getting there! One of my 3D print parts, as I took it out of its ziplock, exhibited a sticky substance covering all its right hand corner. Was cleaned-up with 99% alcohol, but can still see some in the angles… Turning over the part, I discovered a deformation in the resin and a prick with a X-acto revealed a void that had obviously been filled with uncured resin. I cleaned it also, but to be certain no more turns up, I will drill in a few thick places to find possible more uncured masses. This has already happened with thick printed parts before, so beware! Luckily, no painting or assembly had occurred, otherwise fixing this might have been impossible. bye for now! Alain
  15. Thank you! The kit parts offer an excellent base to ad the amount of detail one feels like. I have the Japanese Cockpit Interiors book which has great photos. Just have to be careful that these were taken of a captured example and some modifications were done before being flown by US pilots. Alain
  16. I need my sunglasses to look at that engine cowl! Alain
  17. Excellent and precise work on the support rods! Alain
  18. Great looking model! You did a fantastic job on the lettering! Alain
  19. Fantastic work! Just glue it on base before pouring, then it’s certain not to move during pouring. Is the resin epoxy or polyurethane? I’ve cast big amounts of epoxy, without degassing and had no problems with bubbles. It sets so slowly all the bubbles come up and pop by themselves. A quick shot of heat gun at first gets rid of the bigger ones that come up at first, then nothing to do until the next day. Alain
  20. Is it some weird perspective, or is the 1/24 Spitfire box smaller than the 1/32 Revell one? Alain
  21. With some really great kits coming from ICM, Revell, ZM, etc, I wonder why even total speculation about the next Tamiya 1/32 kit attracts so much attention! Except for just the fun of it? Alain PS: Also many other manufacturers I didn’t mention, some making fabulous resin kits…
