this aircraft in pre-war, brown, green, light grey and light blue underside with the big red horizontal bar across the tail is probably one of my all time favourite schemes. I've just started to build a few aircraft from the Spanish civil war, same scheme but in Condor markings and this will be added to that collection. Happy days

wow that's expensive for a book. It seems to be out of stock in nearly all on line shops I've looked at which is helpful as I can't afford that kind of money for a reference book for a model kit. It's either the book or the kit - I'm going with the kit and artistic licence !

looking forward to this - the kit is on my to buy/build list and the surface details look amazing. Nice to also see pictures of the real plane - nice and glossy (as are most real aircraft and photos of aircraft I've seen, yet somehow most models are depicted as deep flat, I must be missing something). That collector ring up front will be fun to replicate, to my eyes it looks like traces of the brown paint are on both the ring and some of the individual pipes into the engine so assume it was all painted brown in the beginning ?? Any idea what the green circular bit is under the fuselarge - that's shown as brown on the decal sheet ? Can't wait to see the build progress. neil

that made me laugh - I hate PE - fingers are too big and eyes don't work well anymore. And the people producing it seem to think that we modellers want the most minute of details - most of what I have previously bought wasn't used, just too small and fiddly and once installed just couldn't be seen. Devil's playground indeed !

Hi Alain, is the decal set 1/32, I can only find reference to 1/48 decal set. I too refuse to use FB so am looking on scalemates. The conversion sets look interesting. thanks neil

I've built the kit and I'm not sure. I've got the MkV kit and most of the kit is identical to the Mk II. I'm trying to recall the comparison between the kits, I think this should fit but don't take that as being certain. Very unhelpful of me I know - sorry !

I built HMS Illustrious once on a family holiday trip to the Isle of Wight due to some light precipitation. Dropped the thing getting out of the car at the other end after holiday. It was a write-off !

for those building the night fighter scheme there are no stencils provided in the kit. I bought a set of H-Model Decals for hurricane night fighters from Hannants. These are well worth the money I think, you get enough for 3 aircraft, 2 nighter fighters in red and 1 day scheme in black. Having used them tonight they make a real difference to the all black scheme and work perfectly well.

Hi Mark, I'm no expert but I think there is, well at least the bigger filter is included and the error of including the tropical fuselarge vents for the non-tropical and early aircraft plays in your favour. neil

thanks both, this is helpful, especially for weathering. That last picture does show black gear doors. .The pictures of Z3971 SWS (sorry, I haven't got a hosting thing to post on here which doesn't help) look like the wheels, gear struts and doors are black (or at least dark paint) - there are two photos, one is distant so could be shadow the other is close and I think shows black but is looking downwards. I can't find any info on the web except previous conversations about the same subject on Britmodeller, again inconclusive outcome I thought. thanks for your help neil

I've always thought the mirage was a good looking aircraft but your conversion shows that the Kfir is even better looking. Great job, it looks impressive.

I'm building the 1/32 revell hurricane and will do Z3971 in it's night fighter black scheme. Searching the net for photos of the actual plane and I'm trying to work out if they painted everything black, wheels, gear, bay, etc. It's difficult to tell but I've found one picture and it does look like the wheels and gear are black. The drawing revell uses in the instructions looks like the wheels are black but the bay is silver but this is not mentioned. Are there any hurricane experts out there who know the answer ?? I'm also starting to think about weathering, I've not weathered an aircraft finished in (what I assume is matt) black, again any tips on this would be welcome - looking at black and white photos doesn't help. The kit by the way is cracking, the cockpit is beautiful and well engineered. I struggled a bit attaching wings and fuselarge in a couple of areas which I assume was my poor build quality. Lessons learnt for the next build (sea hurricane next please !!). thanks in advance neil
