Restoration of P-47 named Bonnie finally finished

The kit appears to be complete, with the wings and engine finished to a high standard. I grabbed it because I knew it was rare but the sheer size of the completed model makes it unlikely that I will ever finish it. If I were to offer it to an LSPer for the cost of shipping, would anyone be interested?

Latest Goodwill find:

The 4th Carrier Division tail code was D, as the second carrier assigned Shoho's tail code was DII-. It's my understanding that CVL's did not operate Val's because their elevators were too small.
-
Correct, but note that the current consensus is that Soryu & Hiryu exchanged tail codes when Adm. Yamaguchi transferred his flag to Hiryu shortly before Midway.

Good news: The FB page said that they would be releasing these sheets in all three scales. Bad news: I'm fairly certain that none of the Vals pictured participated in that battle.

Fwiw, Hasegawa has the rear machine gun stowed in some sort of rack(?) when not in use. That would seem to imply that the rear gunner would be required to manhandle it into position before going into action, which sounds awfully "sub-optimal" to me.

Question: did you use the wing spar when you were taping this together?

If I wasn't already in for a couple of Trumpy TBD's I would be all over this. Can't wait to see this built up.

My HpH order was delivered today.

A new tool Spitfire Mk.I would be the proverbial license to print money.

Back in Houston, and I have the kit in my hot little hands. Surface detail and molding are VERY nice. I hope to do a quick test fit of the major components this weekend to see if it will build as good as it looks.

Good news: I ordered a second kit from Sprue Bros last week, which was delivered yesterday. Bad news: it was delivered to my Houston address, and I am in Livingston (approx 70 miles away) until Friday.

Hmm. I ordered one direct from Inifinity a month ago, nary a word so far.

Some of 'em will be, others I'm gonna use to make a dent in my huge stash of decals.

1/32 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator by Trumpeter - TBD-1A in October 2023!
coogrfan replied to Kagemusha's topic in LSP Discussion
Mildly surprised to see that Trumpeter didn't see fit to include Midway markings.
