  1. Just found a site called UMM-USA.com that has what you're looking for. HTH.
  2. You can get single guitar strings down to .008 but they're rather stiff so I'm not sure if that would work for you.
  3. Wow! Fantastic build and the finish is amazing. A lesson in weathering for certain, especially when you applied a weathered look to the decals. Too often I see heavily weathered models with perfect markings which puts a dent in the realism. Limited run kits aren't easy as argue but you made this build look like it was a shake-n-bake Tamiya. Well done!
  4. I purchased ( I think ) all of the Fisher upgrades for the Hobbycraft kit. I'm convinced that using all of them will bring the HC kit much closer to the real aircraft and if nothing else closer to the Fisher kit. Reading this post tells me that neither is as close as what you've done! Can't wait to see more!!
  5. Wow!! Brilliant work throughout.
  6. Let us not forget the massive 'nipple's on the drop tank, amongst other major areas of issue. Unless you're dead-set on making a 1/24 P-40, I'm telling you, don't even bother! It's that wrong. The only reason to build one in 1/24 scale is that none exist. Beyond that (and a lot of scratch-building) none exist.
  7. Hi Martin, Unless you're desperate to build a 1/24 P-40, this is not a kit that you want. The number of things that are wrong far outweigh the correct ones. As a starting point for a serious re-build it may be OK, but beyond that.....
  8. Brilliant work Mate!!
  9. I was just thinking about Russ tonight. Seeing this makes me a bit melancholy, but only because he was taking on such a project in 1/32 scale. That and I just still really miss that guy... Great work on your large/small (or is it small/large) kits!!
  10. Spacewolf took the following list of parts: Revell 1/32 BF-110 (rear fuselage, propeller) Typhoon (wings), Corsair (vertical stab), Hurricane (cockpit parts, instruments, tail wheel and strut, as well as most of the decals. Revell 1/72 Corsair (horizontal stabs) 21st Century Zero MG's AMT B-49 flying wing (main wheels) Dragon figure detail set (MG cocking mechanisms) Eduard Zero instruments Several other instrument sets and 'bits' from the parts box. Added a whole lot of scratch-building, combined that with lots of talent, shook it all together and got this Miles M-20! In progress Here!
  11. After PhilB completed his awesome F-5 build he decided to tackle something easy. He wanted to re-create this picture of a downed 109G-6 from Malta: Not only did he, but he smacked it out of the park!! In progress here!
  12. After waaaaaayyyyyyy too long, I'm finally trying to get all the GB stuff caught up. Butler paid tribute to Russ in a very special way: He did a what-if scheme on his 21st Century Veltro, and he did it in two days..... Looks awesome, too! In progress here!
  13. It runs all year. Heck, I might even get something done in that time...
  14. Greetings everyone! It is our pleasure to welcome Ron to the LSP staff! Most of you know Ron and his fantastic (if annoyingly fast) builds as well as his occasional rant about the weather in Cowtown. Ron will be assisting with us as a Moderator once he's learned which buttons to push and all that good stuff. We are thrilled to have someone of his caliber join the team! Dave
  15. Are there issues with the Wolfpack conversion? I thought that was pretty good and its still available.
  16. I've been poking around the new forum software to see if a Google search interface can be used to replace the very limited 'engine' that comes with the software. All the major search engines crawl our site daily and index pretty much everything on here, so all that info is already there. If I can figure out a way to incorporate that into our pages it will help tremendously. We shall see....
  17. Gordon at Sprue Brothers carries HobbyDecal sheets here in the US. While I have ordered direct several times their interface can be a bit of a drag and of course international shipping has its own challenges. Just FYI, not sure if they have the A-10 sheets in stock at this time.
  18. With all that glass, some nice masks from Eduard would be great. I wonder if they'll do any however given the limited quantity of kits being produced.
  19. If you use the image insert link and paste the url for your image there, you can post pictures inline.
  20. OK, it's been over a month, so I guess I'd better give a little update... Not a whole lot has happened other than getting the upper wing surfaces installed and some seam work. Since I installed the lower portion of the wing first I had to take my time and work in sections to get the best joins possible around the wings. I'm very happy with how it's come out, considering that I spread the fuselage, added a shim in the nose, etc. The potential for things to not line-up was magnified but everything went pretty well. Now, no matter how I lined things up, there seems to be no avoiding the steps and gaps that occur around the junction between upper wing, lower wing and fuselage. Some filling and sanding are required... Main construction is pretty much completed now, so it's time for the rest of the body work and then getting on to some primer and paint.
  21. I've encountered similar 'shadows' after using several products including putty, masking tape and masks. What I suspect is that there is no actual residue left behind. I suspect that the painted surface under the mask gets 'smoother' than the surrounding un-masked areas. When the masks are removed you can't see much, but a clear coat can make it much more noticeable. I've had success with polishing the entire area after the masks are removed. Then the clear coat is adhering to a like texture and therefore not refracting the light differently. Or maybe the polishing is just removing the residue.
  22. The test shots that were shown (by someone ) clearly showed a M in the forefront with an earlier version in the background, so I feel pretty confident that they'll be releasing it. My fingers are crossed since that is my favorite although I'd love to do a N at some point also.
  23. I agree. Sounds like poor resource management if they've got all these future releases just sitting around. And trust me when I say that I'd *really* like to have some Intruders in the stash!
  24. I think if it were me I'd let some time go by between releases of different version of the same aircraft type. I wouldn't want to flood the market. Also, if you listen to some of the more knowledgable folks out there, Trumpeter has many of these announced kits completed and sitting in warehouses waiting for future release.
