  1. Here's a quick snapshot of the current state of the Welsh Models 757. The more I look at it, the less happy I am with the nose. It's much more 707-like than 757, but unless I can find some reliable drawings to work from, I'm not sure I could make it any better. Happy to give it a go if I can find something to work from, though! Even without attending to the nose, the tail still needs work shape-wise, the forward wing roots need blending in, and I still need to fill the cabin windows. I'm starting to think that the Iron Maiden livery might be a bit wasted here... Kev
  2. Just reviewing this thread and discovered that most of the images are missing. Any chance of reinstating them, @PROPELLER Dan? Kev
  3. Great stuff, Si! Thanks for the tip on LED Sales, too. I’ve been toying with the idea of lighting a build for a while now. Kev
  4. Just moved this one into position at Andy’s request. Kev
  5. I think this one *just* scrapes in! Kev
  6. Most of my recent attention has been on the Welsh kit, and I've almost got it caught up to this one. However, I'm now waiting on Bra.Z engines and wheels for that build, so I thought I'd return to this one and kick it along a bit further. I took the RB211 engines that my friend Ray Seppala sent me, thinned out the intakes a little, and then installed them onto the wings. This was followed by a light coat of primer to see where things were at: It actually doesn't look too bad! Earlier, I'd used Tamiya epoxy putty to blend in the forward wing roots and make them look like some semblance of the real thing. Still a bit of work to do there, however: FWIW, the Welsh kit needs some major help in this area too. The other thing that this kit is infamous for, is the upward rake of the engines once installed: I've read about various ways to fix this - most of them prior to installation, but I felt I needed to install them first, so I could assess the problem properly, and correct it against some fixed datum points. It actually doesn't look too bad at first glance, but the giveaway is that the fronts of the engine intakes are perpendicular to the ground, whereas they should be sloping rearward from top to bottom. My plan is to make strategic cuts to the pylon just forward of the wing leading edge, and then shim them with styrene stock. Wish me luck! Kev
  7. This is already looking quite wonderful, Kent. You certainly haven't lost your touch! Kev
  8. Impressive stuff, Ernest! How did you make the brass rings? Kev
  9. On that basis, you're good to go! You just need to state that connection at the top of your build thread when you start it. Kev
  10. OK guys, time to right this ship and get it back on topic. We've been aware of Simon's conflict of interest with regard to Kotare and Richard Alexander for some time now, and normally we would treat this as their personal business to sort out between them. But it has spilled over into many threads here in the forums, and caused a certain amount of aggravation. Given that we've recently discovered that Simon had in fact been removed from the forums once before, I've taken the rather drastic decision to ban him. We don't normally discuss these decisions openly in the forums, but I think an additional level of transparency is required in this case. OK, back to Eduard's fantasy 1/32 release schedule! Kev
  11. Thanks, Stefan. I have a couple of the intake sets, but had no idea the nose gear existed! BNA doesn't show them at all. I'll have to order some direct, I guess. EDIT I see now that they're 3D printed, and probably only printed when you order them, which would explain why BNA wouldn't even have them listed, let alone in stock. Anyway, I've "backordered" a pair of them. Kev
  12. Great choice, Ray! I have to figure out something to enter myself. Kev
  13. This is only the second one I've made it past the cutting out stage, so I'm really just a beginner with them too. For me, as I've already alluded, the biggest challenge is getting everything aligned correctly. Kev
  14. Hard to know, as you haven't stated the connection to the GB's themes. Are you going to paint it silver? Kev
  15. Glad to hear you're OK, Chuck! And sorry that you had to cancel your trip. Better luck for the next one! Model is looking great by the way. Kev
  16. A brief but significant update on this one, which sees both the wings a tailplanes added to the fuselage: I agonised over getting the wings on securely, evenly, and with the correct dihedral. I managed the first two, though the wing box on the underside has a rather dramatic lean towards the camera, making the wing on this side look much lower than the other one. The dihedral also appears to be too flat, but when compared to the Minicraft kit below, I can see that the Welsh wings feature a rather severe washout that starts even before the first flap actuator, where the wings are practically flat from there on out. The Minicraft wings feature almost no washout, and just keep going out at the same angle. At their respective roots, however, they both appear about the same. The last challenge with each of these builds is to get the engine pylons on, and for this build I'm still waiting on the Bra.Z engines to arrive. I think it's time for some primer coats at this point! Kev
