LSP_Kevin
You use that for white balance? How? I just use set of calibration cards, though I don't bother to use them often enough. Kev Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Put the camera in auto mode/lens on manual. Take a snap and I get this to set my custom WB:
modelingbob
Interesting looking tool, but I've never used one. Like Kev, I use calibration cards to set the WB on my digicam. It works (and is cheap!), so I have not explored other options. Shaka HI
LSP_K2
For the most part, my camera has built in white balance (automatic) settings for most shooting modes. I've never adjusted it. Shaka HI
Shaka HI
It's $12 at Amazon. Cheaper than my calibration cards!

Shaka HI
yups. Then I pick that photo to set the custom WB before shooting with my usual settings. Edited December 10, 2016 by Shaka HI
LSP_Kevin
yups. Then I pick that photo to set the custom WB before shooting with my usual settings. So your camera lets you set your WB against an existing photo? Never heard of that before. Kev
Shaka HI
I suppose...unless, I don't know what I'm doing? I use my cheap Cannon T3, I got new (body only) for about $300 during a Black Friday sale for all my photos.
Shaka HI
Another shot of the MkII. I've been resizing my photos with GIMP which seems to retain the quality of the original photo. CANicoll, joe, cib2265 and 1 other
LSP_Kevin
Well, whatever you're doing with the white balance, it's clearly working! Looks fabulous. Kev Shaka HI and CANicoll

Rainer Hoffmann
So your camera lets you set your WB against an existing photo? Never heard of that before. Kev Pretty much standard procedure, Kev. However, I simply don't bother. I exclusively use the RAW format of my camera and set the white balance in the RAW converter. No fiddling with the white balance during the shoot and, best of all, it always works! Cheers Rainer
TaffyMan
Yep with Rainer here! My camera has loads of wizzy things built into it. Some I use and others I ignore as to complicated for their return in the shot. I always shoot RAW now, gives you many options to save a picture if you where slightly out when you took it!
