Azgaron
This is the kit I'm going to participate with! Yet another old Revell kit! Might not start it right away, as I have a few kits I like to finish first! But who knows, I got itchy fingers! Cheers, Håkan
Erwin
Nice to see this "oldie" build . Like your Revell Zero,I'm sure this one will turn out great again. BTW,is this just the old mold and decals used again ?

maverick728470
U have a rare box art theme there. The pic as to the box top was as to some the very first release of this kit back in the late 60's.It was the BoB of the 109 for sure.I would not even think of the box at all ,as to put it in a safe place. And get u'er ecthy fingers on this kit started.Larry
Spads57
Hakan, Great choice,I love those old Revell kits. No doubt about it my friend you will work your magic and come up with an outstanding build. Regards, Gregory Jouette
SciFi58
Hakan. Good luck! I'll be working on the old Revell Corsair myself. These kits bring back such memories of being a kid. Seeing the original boxart makes me drift off to sentimental land. I was around 5 when they all first came out and I loved building them and playing with them with the folding wings and the working landing gear. I built the Warhawk in the back of the van on the way to a family reunion in West Virginia one summer which was interesting with the van bouncing all the time. Lost a stabilizer but otherwise had a blast. I even remember building the Mustang in Gentile markings and thinking, wow that must be an inferior version of the much better Warhawk. As a five year old I must have seen similar shapes and thought the Warhawk was cooler. Look at me! These kits make me gush!
LSP_Kevin
Nice choice Håkan! I have an old Revell 109G kit in the stash (I believe it's basically the same moulds as the 'F' kit), so I'll be watching to see what you come up with. Azgaron
Did some work yesterday, but some problems with the server prevented me from showing it then! I've glued the main parts of the engine, and the pilot, although I prolly won't use him! I've done som cleaning up on the fuselage and control surfaces too! If I've checked first, I perhaps shouldn't have cleaned the exhaust pipes so thoroughly, as the do have a visible seam! The control surfaces have no detail whatsoever, but checking pics and drawings it should have, although I didn't find many good pics on the F version. I'll see if I can add some detail. Making rivets and panel lines shouldn't cause any problems, but I'm not sure how to do the fabric on the rudder and elevators! Hard to see in my somewhat crappy pic, but the instrument panel doesn't look straight! Haven't decided what or if I should do anything about it! I'm thinking of making an order for Radus belts and canopy! Would improve the looks somewhat I think! I've seen that Aires have a set of nice resin wheels, but did all the F-version planes have tires with pattern like that or where there slick tires as well? I'm thinking of doing some detailng myself. Adding bolts on the backside wouldn't be any greater problem, but the tread pattern with the tire divided into 36 small treads creates some difficulties! If I could find a way to mark up the tires with 36 marks, then perhaps I could scribe the pattern! Or perhaps the treads should be made with thin plastic sheets as the treads are raised! That's all for now! Cheers, Håkan
LSP_Kevin
Nice to see some progress Håkan! If I've checked first, I perhaps shouldn't have cleaned the exhaust pipes so thoroughly, as the do have a visible seam! Try recreating the seams with finely stretched sprue. If you get it thin enough, and use a liberal amount of a hot liquid cement to attach it, you can mash it down a bit with the back of a knife blade while it softens. Once painted, it can actually look like quite a convincing weld seam. I've had luck doing it even on 1/48 kits - in fact the last time I did it was to create the weld seam on the side intake of Airfix's 1/48 109F. Just an idea. Azgaron
Thanks for the great tip Kev! I'll try that! Cheers, Håkan
big matt
Hey Hakan! Are you going to have the cowling open? As for the weld seam, Kevin's tip is great. Another thing that might work is to paint a thin line of Mr. Surfacer to simulate the weld. It will leave a slight ridge that might look just about right. Just a thought. Azgaron
Hi Matt! Yes, I'm thinking of that! That's why I'm thinking of buying Radus canopy with etched frames and belts! Sounds like a grat tip too! Thanks Matt! I haven't got much done as I'm finishing two planes in the wrong scale for this forum!
