ctayfor Posted January 21, 2023 Share Posted January 21, 2023 Lo these many moons ago (about 55 years), I was watching the Battle of Britain Day parade in my home town of Blenheim in New Zealand and some one was driving a gold Rolls Royce of a then recent model which had been modified with an extended chassis and bonnet to accommodate a Merlin engine. The sound was amazing. I wouldn't mind the level of disposable income that guy must have had. Think of the moulds I could sponsor for my favourite subjects... Incidentally, lots of fishing boats and launches in our area had surplus Merlins in them (mostly Packard) from the P51Ds that the RNZAF territorial squadrons flew in the '50s.
