The magic and majesty of the merlin

Lo these many moons ago (about 55 years), I was watching the Battle of Britain Day parade in my home town of Blenheim in New Zealand and some one was driving a gold Rolls Royce of a then recent model which had been modified with an extended chassis and bonnet to accommodate a Merlin engine. The sound was amazing. I wouldn't mind the level of disposable income that guy must have had. Think of the moulds I could sponsor for my favourite subjects...:D

Incidentally, lots of fishing boats and launches in our area had surplus Merlins in them (mostly Packard) from the P51Ds that the RNZAF territorial squadrons flew in the '50s.
