Amazing Film Footage - Bridges at Toko-Ri

I forgot how incredible this movie was.   Awesome to see those carrier ops in full color.   I wonder if the jet that took the barrier was planned or the film crew just happened to be in the right place at the right time?    That being said, when the heck are we going to get a decent F4U-4?

Or indeed an F9F-5P?  Not even the film had one of them.  Do I hear you say "Oh yes it did"?  Nope, if you look closely you can see that the camera jet is a standard F9F-5 with painted-on camera ports.

 

Still a good film, though, must watch it again.

Was amazed first time I saw that film, like a time capsule looking at those flight ops stuck between WW2 and the "modern" jet age. Pretty amazing the environment in those days for both the flight and deck crews.
