blackbetty
speaking of the fuselage, i decided to join the front and rear part first and after drying put the complete halves together. we will see how that goes... Out2gtcha
Great progress Karl! Attaching that rear fuse section to the forward section on a known flat surface half by half is exactly how I would have done it too. blackbetty
blackbetty
the tub was now glued to the stbd side of the fuselage, as was the (reworked) tailpipe Edited June 5, 2019 by blackbetty LSP_Kevin and Victor K2
blackbetty
then the fuselage was carfully closed up to keep everything aligned Edited June 5, 2019 by blackbetty Victor K2 and LSP_Kevin
blackbetty
harolds nose (an absolute must) was now attached to the front. the kit intake has very strange locating tabs at the front that have to be removed, a gap all around has to be filled on the inside. i used tamiya light-curing putty for this, it adheres nicely to plastic and resin. in the past i didnt have good results with this product, but tried it again since i found it in the toolbox. you have to make sure its mixed properly to get it to work, it then hardens very good in a miunte in direct sunlight and thereafter and can be scribed like plastic LSP_Kevin, Victor K2 and johncrow
dodgem37
Good show, Karl. The F-86F is a fave. '. . . you have to make sure its mixed properly . . . ' I didn't know their light-curing putty was 2-part. Sincerely, Mark blackbetty
blackbetty
thanx mark, its not two part, but the first time i used it, there was some clear fluid at the top of the pack. just mixing this into the pastier substance deeper in didnt cut it, it never hardened. now i only used the paste and it worked properly

JolleyRoger
Ah, a Korean era F-86, my favorite subject! If you do come across a pic of 554, please share(i collect Korean era F-86 pics and don't have this one yet) Also have a Wolfpack F-86 in the stash that is very similar to the Italeri, so following your build with interest. blackbetty
blackbetty
not much mojo in the last couple of days, but i managed to join the fuselage and wings. i had a hard time mounting the resin nose, because the kit intake has to be shortened a little and gaps filled. i even had to make a half-round sanding stick to be able to smooth everything out Edited July 1, 2019 by blackbetty LSP_Kevin
