Shaka HI
Thanks for sharing. I wondered how you did the chipping to look so nice and random..it looks authentic, up close which you don't get with dry-brushing and/or silver pencils. dmthamade
dmthamade
Thanks for sharing. I wondered how you did the chipping to look so nice and random..it looks authentic, up close which you don't get with dry-brushing and/or silver pencils. Happy to share!! Thinking about it, it is how real chipping occurs. Don Edited April 26, 2016 by dmthamade Shawn M
dmthamade
bravo, very nicely done. Now...do I need one of these kits too.....hrmmmm I've built two of these kits and thoroughly enjoyed both. There are lots of schemes available, some look scary to do, some very simple. If you want a simple kit that falls together, but lets you go wild on schemes, this is a good one. dennismcc
Beautiful job and a very realistic finish, not a big fan of Japanese subjects but I built one of these many years ago (Frog I think) when I was very young and I do have a soft spot for the type. BloorwestSiR
Great job Don. Thanks for the tips on the chipping. I'll have to give it a try. Carl
Shaka HI
Yeah! Thanks for that tip. Seems like a much better solution than using salt or modeling products at a fraction of the cost!
dmthamade
I can't take credit for "inventing" this method of chipping paint, read about it a loooong time ago, can't remember when. Might have been back in the 90's. Don

Shawn M
well you did it and I blame you (lol) bought the old Revell japan kit of this. You don't happen to have the other IP (raised detail) you'd be willing to part with would ya? dmthamade
dmthamade
well you did it and I blame you (lol) bought the old Revell japan kit of this. You don't happen to have the other IP (raised detail) you'd be willing to part with would ya? The instrument panel had the raised detail filed off so i could apply the decal, so i don't have a spare. I do have a whole bunch of decals i'll never used that you can have. PM me if your interested. Don
