I also have this original boxed kit at home and am planning on doing the Swiss Mirage IIIR foiled in natural metal and will be using the fisher cockpit as well... Man, I picked up that Matterhorn Circle Atar 9C resin engine kit too, and WOOOOHOOO! Man is that this sweeet! Good luck and keep the pics comin! Is that a new Revell Germany release? In fact it was a limited edition (as several others) from Revell's Swiss distibutor. Just the old box wraped in new printed paper, as avro683 said, with a "little goodie". This make me think I build once the "Papyrus Hunter" from the same distribution. I shoud post some pics once... A small update As my cockpit "thing" is making illusion, I placed the side panels and some tabs to hold it Then I had to extend 8mm the front wheel well opening (an other specification of the swiss Mirages) and build a “wheel well thing” to the right dimentions. The other side of this “thing” I just build roughly the main components to make sure about sizes and arrangement, and to see if I was going the right way... The front leg was a bit tricky to achieve as the one furnished in the kit is really bad. A lot too flimsy, the “fork” (don’t know the right name in english) holding the wheel must be extended anyway (again to match the Swiss execution) and the wheel has to be much more beefy. So I keep only the top of the leg and quickly rebuild the rest with the correct specs. A piano wire is running down to the “wheel fork” (sorry again...) all the way through the leg, it keeps (more or less) the alignement and strenght, so even without glue it did not collapse when putting weight on it... that's it for the moment... ... and still so much more to throw inside ! I hope you will not be angry with me (or help me) if I commit some imperfections... Did you carve those nose wheel parts yourself? If so, could you explain in more detail? Kev I hope I understand your question right. In fact me too, I didn’t knew how to start too... I drive myself in front of the wall, took the big hobby knife and removed all the portions I found not to be correct. When it’s done, you HAVE to find a solution! For the LG I took rectangular Evergreen and bend it to match (the black lines). Then these parts were assembled with two sections of half round profile (the blue) before filling the holes with cyano and microbaloon. The ends of the parts have been shaped by sanding and the edges shaped with the hobby knive. The other part is only a round profile, plasticard and a small aluminium tube. The wheel is made with the two kit parts and plasticard. Regarding the hydraulic pistions, they are made from piano wire, aluminium tube and adhesive foil. They are very easy to achive, believe me. I’ll will take some step by step pictures when I have to build some more. The base of the other parts are from the spare box (german bombs, Haseg’ P51 engine and so on ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

To the fuselage dress : air intakes were trimmed to the right shape (half round and not a potato look). The the front lip was replaced with thin plasticard as was the back side, so we have something more scale acurate. As I was on the way, the tip of the intake was carved to the sharp point it should to be. ‘rebuild the structure of the secondary intake Ooups... (not Tamigawa...) The canon fairings are hopeless, so I build new ones with half round profiles Now, ‘have to make this stuff look good... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
