    Very nice work Tom, I'm never sure about going down the riveting route mainly down to a time and skill level thing.  Your 190 is looking excellent!

    Regards. Andy

    Andy, thank you! I always think the same thing about my riveting but once I start it just seems to take on a life of its own. For whatever it’s worth it does take some time but always sooner than I expected. This took about five hours.

    Very nice work Tom, it reminds me of when I did the rivets on my 190.
    When I first started using Galaxy Tools, I used Dymo guides to work with, but then I realized that I could do it just fine without anything at all.
    Did you use Dymo/Tamiya guides for the whole plane, or just for certain areas?

    Thanks Denis! It was a combination of Tamiya tape (for the longer runs) and freehand.

  3. At long last I've managed to rivet the airframe, using the Galaxy riveting tools recommended by John (Thunnus), with a 1.0mm and 1.5mm spacing. It's my first time using them and I really like them. I confess that I am not a big fan of recessed rivets, but I managed to accomplish this:

    Here you see that the indentation actually creates a raised area that i can control by sanding back if necessary. I originally was going to attempt what I consider the most accurate method: using the Silhouette craft cutter to create rivet holes through which I would apply paint, creating a raised rivet. However, this is a big commitment in time. I will revisit this at some point but wanted to focus my limited time to finishing this build instead.

    However did I miss this?  What an introduction, beautiful model.  The tailwheel being castored off-centre adds even more interest, as does the tractor. :goodjob:

    That caught my eye as well. There are so many great features to this build. Well done!

  5. This build is so impressive Ernest! So much going on here. I’m especially taken with that photo from the stern all the way to the bowsprit. It captures some of the amazing work you’ve put in such as the rolled hammocks and your research into the colors used on this ship. Your build would make a great how-to for building the Revell USS Constitution!

    What a nice clean build!  Maybe too clean?  In any case, your modeling skills of assembly to paint are exceptional.

    Thank you Chuck! i appreciate it. I chose the subdued weathering for two reasons (well, three):

    1) I wanted to celebrate the form and colors of this aircraft;

    2) I don’t have references showing the weathering of these early Reisen;

    3) Adding more weathering later is easier than removing it.

    I admit I was strongly tempted to leave it in airframe silver, but after learning about the colors of this aircraft I couldn’t resist!

    Another great build.  I do like the clean look and the contrast between the fabric and metal surfaces.  :thumbsup:

    Thank you Michael! I really learned a lot during this build and am happy how those colors turned out.

    Great work again, Tom.  :wow:

    This one turned out very well.  You've got me thinking about doing one now as it's sufficiently different to the A6M5 that I finished recently

    Cheers,

    Michael

    Thank you Michael! I built that one as well a while ago and agree that it’s got a significantly different look. I’d love to see your work on this.

    Cheers,  Tom
