Time for decals. The right elevator is a little bit hanging because I forgot to cement it in.

Well I decided against this fat fuselage which looks more like a Fiat G50 and split it apart again. This is the comparison between old and new.

    new:
Hope there is a substantial difference between them.

The One O Nine wth the BMW 801D is another mystery ship from Messerschmitt. Sure it was built and flew with discouraging performance. But no pictures are available. There are some pics of a radial engined 109. Burt I think they show the Bf 109 V21 with a Ptatt Whitney engine. A few plans exist:

What kit to use that's the question. As always I have some favorites: The Matchbox 109 E, The old Hasegawa FW 180 A an a quarterscale P 47 from Monogram.

This is the general arangement of kit parts:

A little cementing later I arranged the parts for a first look of the beast. I was happy with the result and decided giving it a chance.

It's cold outside. Time to mount a canopy on the O-nine.

The dash board is replaced by a new one at last as are the exhausts. I buyed some Quick-Boost exhausts but I mounted the kit ones sparing the resin items for a more expansive Hasegawa kit.

The front canopy will not be the last word. Found a better one in my spare parts. I will exchange it when I'm back from "Oberschleißheim Air Museum" Model -Fair near Munich in some days.

The new dashboard is showing up a little.

A coat of primer always looks good but reveals faults too.

The flaps of the wing radiators are scratch built from thin plastic sheet because they are rectangular and the kit flaps are trapzoid and could not be used.

Next the rudder was cut off and the fin was lengthed a little.

The dehedral of the outer wing planes was a little too positive. I saw a slit in the upper wing halfs and inserted a splint from Evergreen.

The empenage is fitted only to get an impression of the ac. It will have to be changed too.

The rest of the fuselage is standard G-5.

The underside of this build is for putty and sandiing freaks only.

Now real ugly work was waitung for me. The reunion of the outer wing halfes with the fuselage center part sawn off earlier. God bless 2-K putty and superglue!

You can screw together wings and fuselage of the 21st Century kit. This makes things easier when it comes to check fit of parts.

Pilots who flew versions of the "H" were pleased by its flight characteristics but experienced wing flutter at high speeds.

I made little progress last week because of the modelfair in Münich. Maybe you are interested in some pics of the surroundings where we showed our kits.

The 109 got a replacement canopy from the sparebox with better fit.

By the way I sprayed some exhaust stains and added the wing guns.

May be a litte too much but german engines generally produced heavy stains because of high ingrediences of benzol in the gas.

I always wanted to add a high altitude Bf 109 to my collection. Sadly there are no pictures of this plane and drawings you can get differ from each other in many respects. At last I decided to build it after a drawing I found in Thomas H. Hitchcocks "The Focke Wulf Ta 152". The V54 was based on a G-5 type. I took a 21st Century Bf 109 G-14 as abase. The fuselage is almost unchanged apart from the tail making things a bit easier.

The 21 Century kit may be a little mediocre but it is cheap. I would hate slaughtering a Hasegawa kit whwn there is a real possibility of desaster.

Let's start with the wings. You have to construct a new centerpiece section with has no dehedral. This was more than tricky.

All comes to an end. I finished the Sabre and took her to Berlin Gatow. There was much discussion about the benefits of the Sabre and the MiG 15. The eastern part of our reunited nation is more in love with the MiG and so many beers and sausages were consumed while every one praised his favourite. Later in the evening we argued about the beer brands in east and west. At last no one could drive a car anymore and so the whole bunch of modellers walked on feet or by bus to their accommodations. Wonder what the models were thinking about their builders?

This will be no hightech build! I will try to use what is on hand.
After all this protorypes of Kurt Tanks Focke Wulfs I have to smell some kerosin again. The Sabre is an all time favorite of me. After building three old Hasegawa Sabres I thought trying a Kinetic kit would be an easier job. I was completely wrong.
Kinetic is offering a F-86 F-30??? as a Sabre MK 6. This means heavy sanding and engraving is waiting for me.
First I will show the most urgent snags of the kit.

The picture on the box is missleading. This is defenitly no MK6! In addition the combination of these decals, Sidewinder rails and bombs is wrong!

Those ugly rivets on Chinese kits are a real nuisance! No one can see them on the original ac standing only some yards away.
Where are all those rivets gone? Standing very near this Sabre I can't see the rivets at all.

A big mistake! Two rocker arm levers for the slats are missing on each wing.

This was the first time I was sorry not having a Hasegawa kit on hand. many were to follow!
