  1. Tony, I don't think obscure WWI subjects killed WNW. I think they sold a whole lot of kits all over the world, and there is still a huge market for them. Putting up to 5 sheets of decals and color instructions in a $79.00 kit probably cut the profit margin quite a bit. I'm sure their basic business plan of shipping everything from the home of the Hobbits also cut into the bottom line. We lost something really special there. This is a good kit. And not putting an engine in the Spitfire is going to be more profitable for Kotare in the long run, and most modelers won't really miss it much. But how can a model of the year not have one? Sometimes I like to do the extra work on the engine even if it won't be readily visible. I have even gone so far as to scratchbuild engines and interiors in, dare I say, tank models. I guess WNW spoiled me as to what I expect from a $79.00+ kit. And I really love the WWI era subjects. I will build kits of all types in all eras. It keeps the hobby interesting. But early aviation is really my favorite.
  2. I just started the Trumpeter kit, so I am very interested in your progress on this one. So far you have given me some really good ideas. The landing gear is uh-mazing.
  3. BTW, I am currently working on a F14a with Lt. Pete Maverick Mitchell decals for a model contest with a Back to the Eightys theme.
  4. If you think about it, you can nitpick just about any show out there. I always find myself complaining about the uniforms and awards in just about every military show I have ever seen. It really detracts from the quality of the movie for me. Some of the mistakes even make the movie ridiculous and hard to watch. When I was a kid and Blue Max came out, I knew the camo schemes were all wrong. In Flyboys, all the Germans seem to fly red triplanes. And I could go on and on. I have recently watched some of these shows again without the critical eye for minutiae, and they were more entertaining. So I will stive to make my models as accurate as possible, and just let Hollywood make stupid mistakes. But if Hollywood ever needs a technical advisor, I am available.
  5. I got one at my LHS when they first came out. It looks like a good kit. I wish they woul branch out to the WWI kits where WNW left off.
  6. I have this in my stash. It is good to see on built up. Very nice job.
