  1. I will repeat my comment on another SBD build here. A fine example of the SBD's from the early actions. I'm doing a "smaller" version from the Yorktown of VB-5 Battle of the Coral Sea, Lt. John James Powers Medal of Honor posthumously for his part in the attack on Shokaku scoring a crucial hit but crashed into the sea from anti air craft fire. You guys here on LSP give me much guidance in doing my builds. You set a very high standard.

  3. Such nice work..... and I keep saying to meself, "I didn't know that", "I Didn't know That"!!!!!!! Bill
  4. Anxious to see the weapons hung!
  5. Thanks for the reply. I've seen both, as in this photo showing a D, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:194th_Fighter_Squadron_-_North_American_F-51D-30-NA_Mustang_44-74825_Treasure_Island.jpg Does look painted tho, as no color difference in the stainless steel panel under the exhaust. There are many pictures of F's on the line in front of the Hayward hangar. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F-51H_194th_Fighter_Squadron_(4777706358).jpg Cheers, Bill
  6. Interesting. I happen to be along with #22, Merlins Magic. On which, too many years ago I did the nose art, when I was a sign painter in Livermore, CA. You've bot a nice build going here. Bill
  7. Just my observation. At the top left of the Bar and Star, there is a piece of the blue surround missing, it's the same gray as the rest of the fuselage. Wondering if it would be a bit shiny if it was bare aluminum? I sure like what you are doing with this build!!! I am presently building a 32nd scale Merlins Magic race 22 modified D model mustang. Lots of interior and exterior mods. Building it as after it dropped a rod and in the middle of an engine change. Now my questions are, I grew up in the San Francisco bay area, San Lorenzo when I was 9-10 years old. I watched the CANG Mustangs fly in and out of the Hayward airport. I want to build a second Tamiya kit for this group. I will be creating artwork for the CANG Hayward decals. Would they have been flying D or F models in 1952-3? I have some exterior photos of this group over SF but know nothing about the interiors other than stock photos. Would they have been the same as your build here? I do remember the shinny skins. Bill
  8. I happen to be working on a Puking Dog from 143 of Engine Eddie Davidson, USS Constellation, 200 missions! You've done good on this one!
  9. As it happens, being an old Swab, I have the Guy Bordelon print hanging on my wall next to my "bench". Lieutenant bars, ribbons and Gold wings in the matt. You've done his plane well, a bit of a masterpiece!
  10. Well I would say you are the lucky man GDW..... BTW, at the Wagga Wagga aviation museum there is a log book belonged to a Jewish fighter pilot. His family donated it to the display. An interesting piece of German history. Bill
  11. His personal Bf-108 is at the HARS museum, Australia. Unable to post a photo, how to get it to URL escapes me.
  12. New to LSP. I never stepped inside one of these, but the S2-F were on the Yorktown in the 60's, I was with HS-4, and I love the sound of their round engines taking off, and landing. Your interior detail looks fantastic.
