Robthepom got a reaction from themongoose in Trumpeter Harrier II AV-8B

I would get another if the price was good ie cheap
Whats next i wonder

Robthepom got a reaction from themongoose in Trumpeter Harrier II AV-8B
hello fellows, i jumped ahead a bit with this build
Aircraft assembled, camo painted with the excellent SMS paints, gloss and decals done, wow not bad progress hey.
Decals are good, nice and thin easy to use over good gloss
Accuracy??? .... *Rob Shrugs*, looks like a harrier to me
pic pic pic

Robthepom got a reaction from themongoose in Trumpeter Harrier II AV-8B
thanks for the comments
I really glad i did the bomb load early in the process of the build, i would have been very frustrated if i had done them at the end, because the main body of the kit has excellent fits.
All dry fitted no glue
Its enjoyable again, its a harrier

Thanks for the pics, love inflight harrier.
The fight over the bomb load is decided, no thanks to Trumpeter, I also put the halfs together and was plesantly surprised by the excellent fit
Hopefully i can move along a bit quicker

Robthepom got a reaction from themongoose in Trumpeter Harrier II AV-8B
I'm glad someone is................haha joke (maybe not)
I have spent a whole day fighting with mad Trumpeter instruction and weird parts, the weapons and pylons are terrible and driving me crazy, i must have studied every build thread on google and this is what I've come up with, is it accurate, probably not. Half the sprues are not even used, breath in breath out
I need to get back into it, find the harrier love again before it hits the shelf of doom

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
Well I'm back on this cracker, did i mention its is stunning kit, haha
I recieved a replacement sprue direct from Japan, no charge, no explaination necessary, great service
I have made a decision on the finish of my Horten, i, leaving the top skin off to show the details, I have always admired cut away models
So I'm just finishing to flying surfaces and a few other bits, then its done. I experimented with different oils for each panel, the flap is blue tacked in place for photo
its a big kit, and when finished i'll clear the other models and display it on its own, its my best work yet

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
Thanks for the kind comments, its a great kit with so much detail.
I have finished the skeleton of the aircraft, i must now decide what to do with the skin and how much detail i want on show, i might close one side of the wing
I'm very happy with how the HGW seatbelts came out
just need to tidy some of the weathering, then crack on with the skin

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
nice seat Karim, i also like the kit seat with the moulded belts, they look more to the correct scale, the fabric belts look to big for 1/32
I'm still practicing my wood simulation skills, i used the lower plate to start with as you only see glimpses of it, you can just see it, but the wood effect looks great

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
Yes I agree for a fabric material they are very stiff, but the detail is great, i got the shoulder harness done but got distracted by the wings
I used the decals for the IP, it looks ok, i probably should have gone with the AM panel
My messy messy work table
Some photos in my wifes light tent, when you get the wings on, its actually pretty inpressive
Thanks for looking

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
I got quiet a bit finished last night, cockpit is in and i trimmed the junction box wiring, i couldnt quite get the silver foil to work as tie downs for the cables so had to use wire painted silver, I'm not happy with it so I might try flatened lead wire or wine bottle foil
Next up is the seat and the IP, i have ordered HGW belts but i might have a crack at painting the moulded belts as well
thanks for looking in

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
Interesting, i never knew that
I got bit bored with wiring the junction box, so the good thing about 1/32 kits is i can leave it and start the next subassembly
Every blog and build thread i have ever read comments on the size of the front landing gear, and I'm not about to break that tradition.....its HUGE!!
I decided to cut the wheel locating pins, I just need to go through my spares box to find right size axel
I'm going to leave the Oo, I'll make a mess of modifying the letter

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
more progress made, the framing may look complicated but it all fits nicely just follow the instructions, still have a few touch ups and bit more wiring, then onto the cockpit
thanks for looking

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
thanks for the comments guys, onwards with the build
Its been along time since i did any wood simulation, the pictures make the the wood look very dark, not the best i"ve seen but its ok
I used masking fluid for the first time, and was impressed, it saved cutting hundreds of strips of masking tape
I still have no idea how much I'm going to display, and like most people i hate the frosted/clear parts already
very enjoyable kit so far

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
thanks for the comments guys
did some more work on the engines and frame, i decided on RLM02 it looked better than the german grey
i tried to ignore the bad seam on the side of the engine but it was really bugging me so MrSurfacer 500 plus some delicate sanding fixed it
some other general pics
one engine is cleaner than the other just need a splash of floys wash on the clean one
I've left this picture until last, this is my first bit of proper spraying with my first ever airbrush, i should have bought one years ago, its great practice doing block colors, cant wait to try some shading and other effects
thanks for looking in

Robthepom got a reaction from HB252 in ZM 1/32 Horten Ho229..FINISHED
I started work on the internal frame, i bought some Mr Hobby masking fluid for all the attachment points.
Ive decided not to go with the Grey Green paint scheme for the frame, one of the referance photos looks similat to a German Grey
Doesnt look like grey green to me
