  1. The pose on your figures look very, very natural!
  2. I did the fusalage roundels this evening. I taped the center pieces together so I can remove/place/align it on the model just right. Then aligned the "framing" piece. The cross diagonal lines definitely helps. Then remove the center piece/paint/wait 5 mins for it to dry/replace the mask, repeat for the next center piece..etc... I love the results. But there's no way in heck I can work as fast as Carl, so I'll take my sweet time. Again, thanks Carl (and Max/Dennis) for the tips!
  3. I agree, my issue is that I seem to get impatient as well...so I'm trying to do my "homework".
  4. If you're asking me...they're custom mixes using the kit's and after-market decals I had as reference.
  5. Thanks Carl! Curious if you can tape the inner part of the masks together to place them all together during positioning, then apply the framing mask?
  6. Carry on, Carl..I'm following your thread. Mahalo!
  7. I think I'm more confused at what's the best way to use these masks? Paint from the inside/out or outside/in. Both seem to have advantages. I used Inside/out for the easy roundels on top of the wings because I don't end up distorting/offsetting the masks, but remasking the area painted has to be done very precisely; otherwise there's a gap or overlap which is fairly visible....as you can see in my sample. Regardless once you use masks, you never go back to decals/transfers! These masks are easy to distort -- so soft and pliable that I wish they were a bit stiffer, of course I'll feel the exact opposite when I mask the bottom later...C'est la vie... Regardless, they look way better than the decals (that, I've applied)!
  8. LOL...ya, whatever man. I got a small handheld vac, too. If you don't mind, more detail on using the masks.
  9. Yeah! Thanks for that tip. Seems like a much better solution than using salt or modeling products at a fraction of the cost!
  10. Thanks for sharing. I wondered how you did the chipping to look so nice and random..it looks authentic, up close which you don't get with dry-brushing and/or silver pencils.
  11. I see the picts! Fanstastic work, dude. I curious how you're doing the chipping -- I am in complete awe.
  12. Not much done, just getting the paint mixed/tested. I've bought these plastic bottles in bulk and have been using them to store custom paint. Just drop a few into the airbrush cup while painting...easy peasy, nothing messy!
  13. Hey Carl, there's almost a slight sheen to your finish...you do this on purpose to allow the masks to stick better?
  14. I'm sorry, but what does "hack" mean in this context?
  15. I've run out of adjectives at this point....
  16. I like it because I can fill minor gaps then come back with Q-Tip dipped in water to blend it. No lost of detail, but it's far from perfect.
  17. You do some incredibly convincing work! Just incredible!
