  1. Aircraft in unusual positions are great to reveal details otherwise hidden! It does look as if there’s a light under the fuselage. The rectangular panels on the wings are quite intriguing. They cover partially the wing roundels as if they were added as a modification, or a temporary ad on for some purpose? Hope more info turns up! Alain
  2. Thinking of a MiG-17, 19 or 21 in Egyptian markings. Got all 3 kits, but no decals or masks found yet. Will see if I can make my own with Olfa cutter and sharp X-Acto! Alain
  3. Excellent work! The base with the water and all other details is very well done! Alain
  4. Hi! First a photo of the modified dive brake in the prototype, from somewhere on the internet. You can see how plates have been added to augment the surface area. Photos of the underside lamps. F3 in Ottawa. You can see these have been covered with a small hole remaining. Looks like they got painted over at some point.photo F. Huot photo F. Huot The dismantled Mk1 in Ottawa. I wonder if what we see on the F3 are the plexiglass panels painted over in silver. Too bad the plastic seems to have yellowed so much we can't see much through it. Photo F. Huot So not exactly like the Sea Vampire, but looking at the general design, you can adapt to your project. Alain
  5. That’s not the prototype. The prototype has the early square fins (with added bullets). It’s a repainted Swiss Vampire with ejector seat if you look carefully. Wrong wing tips also. Those tanks were only on the Swiss Vampires and Venoms. You can see the standard emplacement of the lamps in the engine cowl drawing in the Vampire build thread. Never found out what the colors were supposed to be. Alain
  6. Excellent work Thierry! Already taking shape and it is looking great. How are you planning to de the markings? Also the Sea Vampire T22 looks like just any other two seater, ie without any naval modifications. Alain
  7. Looking forward to see your solution. Hope this can help. Measured directly on the Vampire F3 in Ottawa. Could only access the underside to measure with a tape, directly along the curve of the fuselage. The shapes seems to be extremely accurate. Note the thrust line angled downward and the relatively high position of the trailing edge of the wing. Alain
  8. Hello! Just want to point out that the shape of the air brake is a bit off. The outboard side is a straight line as is shown in this drawing: All the dimensions are noted in Imperial and Metric. The smaller number in Metric is the size in 1/32 scale. The 1'8'' measure is on the inboard side of the dive brake. Alain
  9. Good suggestions! About French aircraft, note they also built aircraft of foreign origin such as the Mistral (Vampire), Aquilon (Sea Venom), Nord 1000 (Bf-108), Morane Saulnier MS 500 (Fieseler Storch). Alain
  10. I like the Hasegawa group build. Seems everyone has some in their stash and allows a great variety of subject matters. Other suggestions above great too. Alain
  11. Great work on the cockpit Max, and interesting to see to mix of parts for the instrument panel. Alain
  12. I check the what’s new page about every couple days to keep me informed on all the new stuff coming out in various scales. Don’t have much patience for all the ads on the forum that seem to move the text I’m reading in sudden jolts that are highly annoying. Alain
  13. Here you go: First a link to an Israeli derelict, but showing many good details. http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/isaac_gershman/do27_100/ Now some pictures from all around I saved in the past. Some drawings I took photos of the screen. Schnitt B is the sructural member I mentioned Cut is along the red lines looking forward Top view of cabin. Hope this helps! Alain
  14. I’ll try to get to some of the photos I’ve saved and post them in the next few days. Alain
  15. It is impossible to tell colors from a black and white photo. Sometimes you can have a text describing the aircraft and mentioning the colors. You can research if this aircraft had factory colors you could identify from other sources.
  16. The Do 27 had various cockpit variations. Single or twin controls, with different instrument panels. Like said above, a Google search will get you all the info you need. Just try to get the correct version you need. The kit interior is very basic as you said and you will need to add at least the heavy frame behind the front seats that supports the wings and gear legs. The engine cowl and prop are pretty clunky too. Alain
  17. Good observation! Looked through my books but could only find a picture from slightly below. Not very helpful, except to see they are forward one panel. Alain
  18. I know there’s uncovered and covered (with small openings) configuration. The F3 in Ottawa has covered lights for example. I’ve seen both in ordinary Vampires. What have you found with the Sea Vampire? Alain
  19. Cockpit and ejection seat info on the Mistral: http://avions-de-la-guerre-d-algerie.over-blog.com/article-vampire-mistral-suite-71127395.html Alain
  20. Just note the dive brakes and flaps have a greater surface area. Alain
  21. Hi! This might help with your work on the gun openings: Alain
  22. Are you building the Sea Vampire prototype or production model?
  23. Very interesting project Max! I hope the flash on the cockpit frames isn’t too hard to remove. The exhaust pipes: as it is usually the case, it may well be simpler to completely remove and replace them rather than trying to fix the parts. Alain
