  1. watching, watching, watching. Plan to start my HpH 410 early 2015. 3 builds on the bench should be done (hopefully) by end of year. Then some bench remodeling and back to toy airplanes. I have studied the instructions on several occasions and some build sections look tricky (radiator flaps), but doable. Certainly there will be some creative engineering/building with this. Taking serious consideration on adding one of Eduard's BRASSIN DB 605's. Eduard's BRASSIN WGr.21's may also replace HpH turned metal sets. Good luck and have fun!
  2. really nice, sorry I missed this. I have this conversion in my stash and I hope to do as much justice as you have with your build.
  3. beautiful. clever approach with the lifting panels. I am shamelessly going to borrow your idea on my Ho229
  4. A little Alclad then image credit DoogsATX I love Alclad, it works really well for me. Problem is every flaw shows on a NMF. That said a few sink marks I thought I took care of appeared. So out with the Mr. Putty and some future sanding, priming and painting. Barely visible is a sink mark running along the leading edge of the landing flap also to right of gun access panel. Sigh! The fin fillet is dry fitted and may have a a revisit to the paint shop. Will reserve that action after all paint is on.
  5. looking great Kev. Been there with those little challenges. Makes the build more interesting, eh?
  6. Great work Peter. The injector pin mark work is exceptional. It looks like you punched sheet styrene and place discs in the "marks"? Or did you use filler like Mr Surfacer 500? Please share... aaannnnd - Beautiful work on the engine. I like the Alclad layering, nice effect. "keep em coming!"
  7. really nice effort. i have this in my stash with all the AM goodies. waiting for final.....
  8. Agree with Kev, good luck and hope you get back soon. Kinda happy I have enough AlleyCat stuff that will keep me busy....
  9. really exceptional work Mike. Have ready for MauraderCon?
  10. love watching these scratchbuilt planes. it is total aero engineering combined with art.
  11. beautiful effort. Nothing like some rigging angst to keep me away from my WNW kits....
  12. love WWII FAA schemes. beautiful work!
  13. This is in my stash and will emerge when I begin (some day) my Rising Sun builds. Great scheme. Love the pics Thomas L!
  14. "SLICK CHICK" IS WELL ENDOWED After applying the final coat of primer I found a few seams that needed some attention. While the liquid putty dries I decided to do a ordnance test fit. There is much work to be done, but this was fun. Detail, weather and wire fuses to the 500 GP bombs Paint, detail, weather, bullets and ignition wire for the M10's Prime and paint for the brass blast tubes Apologizes for the iPhone pics. My modelling geekness got aroused and I look forward to the next phases of this build. Keep fingers crossed for a happy Alclad day.
  15. great start on the pit. TBM is on my list to build someday...
  16. BLACK FROM THE ATTACK Mr. Color 1500 Surfacer applied. Finish tail markings with red and NATO Black and Black mix. Light sand with 4000 Micro Mesh, clean then apply Alclad base prep. Then the question, apply cowling/fuselage art before or after Alclad application?
  17. how the heck did I miss this? Great finish, really well done! I'm just gonna pack my Slick Chick away for awhile.....
  18. MASKING DONE AND READY TO PAINT Wheel wells, cockpit, engine cowl and various openings are masked and it's ready to start painting. I randomly shot primer on suspected areas to make sure the fill/sand/scribe/rivets are good. The windscreen is a spare and spot glued with acrylic. Wheel wells always a PITA. Lots of little pieces of Tamiya tape. Then all seams painted with liquid mask. Step one for the 368FG/395FS tail color. Yellow applied. Next will be the red and black. When tail colors complete, will mask then begin the surface prep for Alclad. The nose scheme mask will be done after Alclad applied. This is assured to give me plenty of masking angst.
  19. M10 BULLETS The M10 tubes need to be loaded so back to some creative engineering. Rocket tubes primed with Mr.Color 1500 Black, olive drab will be main color applied. Using a 3.2mm (1/8") styrene tube I cut 6 pieces approx 2cm length. Thin the walls with a round file. A 1.5mm round rod is inserted to create depth at the rocket nozzle. The 1.5mm rod is depressed about 1mm into the tube then liquid cement applied. Will drill a small hole to accommodate the ignition wire. Will trim the rod about 3mm from tube. Plan is to paint some shade of dark aluminum. TBD. Test fit of M10 bullets and ignition wire. Wire will be trimmed and inserted into middle of each rocket.
  20. SOME CHANGES I was not happy with the results of the Ju88 Autopilot and Fuel Tank switches. At a LHS I found this in the Armour section. Perfect solution for the FW190 pit. This also solves fuel and electrical connector/coupling issue "FW190 to the Ju88." FW190 pit prior to change. With connectors/couplings added a little paint and matt varnish. Fuselage is buttoned up. Sanding and scribing on deck.
