R.I.P Ruzlkampf (Russ Camp) - You will be missed
Denie replied to MiaKonnect's topic in General Discussion
What a shock to read that Russ has passed into the next world. Gone way too early. What I liked the most about his craftsmanship was the ME 110 mods that he did. RIP Russ Denie -
Very nice paint job Allan. What paint colours did you use? Cheers Denie

ID/Combat Models 1/32 Vacform P-61 Black Widow...
Denie replied to Derek B's topic in LSP Discussion
Well hello Derek The ID Westland Whirlwind I have been involved with has been preety well spot on in regards to Westlands drawings so I am sure that Doug used those. P 61, usure in regards to accuracy. Stiil looking for "That other Westland a/c stuff" for you. Gotta be some where in amongst the rubble. Cheers Denie -
Hi Les From what I understand combat have geared up a bit and have some nice subjects, vacs have a few different ways to make but a kit is a kit is a kit when complete. I think that if you like aircraft and you like makeing models it really boils down to is, do you want a particular model that main stream makers have not made and if you want to do a little more or less than a main stream kit. Some like wood kits, like paper some like vac some like building from plans some likeTamiya Revell Hasegawa etc. Plentyof help here in vacing, ask around. The only question you will never get an answer to is the one you never ask. Denie

Russian Spitfires? Which marks.
Denie replied to ssculptor's topic in Aviation Discussion & Research
Hi Stephen The Russian's also added another seat and canopy to the Mk5 and Mk9 that is the same as the Grase TR9 Spitfire coded OUV NZ 486 sqd. Got pics some where of the mod on the Russian Spitfire and it looks like that is where Nick Grace got the idea to do the same to OUV. I'll have a look and post pics. Denie -
Hi Den Nice job on your model. I too have a soft spot forthis aircraft and one day I might get one. Cheers Denie

Hi Keith Nice job on the Buffalo. Those cheap airbrush kits are great got mine awhile back for NZ$25.00 from super cheep auto's and are a copy of the Badger 150 and the badger parts are interchageable as well. Blackbetty, I'm sure you can get one in Austria at a local art shop maybe or a auto detail shop? Denie

The time is 7:48 am, just like any other Friday the 13th, the year, 2009. I started out like any other avid modeler looking here, looking there in amongst the stash. Touching smooth plastic and every so often looking at a particular kit and nodding knowingly that you had already made it in your head. Further mutterings followed by a "So that's where you went you little #$%$#". Just what was "it" that went? and where did "it" go? I will attempt to answer this and many other startling oddities of the "Other Room". The other room at first appears to be just ... another room, but that can be a bit of a point of contension if another party namely ..."Those Kids" want first dibbs. "Those Kids" appear to be just like any other pasty, spoty (that at first glance look a little like Trumpeter's first botch up but sold en masse anyway) akward little "I bet I can make a model better than you can finish one" neighbours child. I suspect a late night drinking binge that went horribly wrong with the clostest neighbours and the resulting mind numbing fruit that cannot be human has in all truthfulness bought me to tears... laughing that is. "It" has a name. Westland Whirlwind MK1 Fighter that has two engines that when first made showed such promise hmmm rather like me and after suitable attempts did not live up to expectations, again rather like me! Apparently, there was talk and offers and rejections made from Bristols and Rolls to upgrade the engines but the chief honcho firmly believed that Rolls was going to develop the Perigineand refused to compromise and seems this was an on going trait that made Westlands loose aircraft productions. The Whirlwind was found to be where I had left it. I won't go into detail but lets say "when plastic rubbs together..." Oh there was talk and suggestion but those that know me turned a deaf ear and acted with normality when Whirlwind was spoken and rightly so. There has been activity upon the workbench and I have found a sollution to cockpit formers as per the real thing!! More to follow with pics. Denie

Hi Graham Did you sort out the spinners? I thought that a couple of Hasegawa 109Gs would fit the bill? Looking good. Denie

Hi Derek "Mmmmm I can smell roast Welkin" said the boy with unkept hair and with his glue stained fingers holding a plastic model. "Not so fast young man" as his father bent to observe what the lad had made... "This is not a Mustang nor is it a Foke Wulf" said the the boys father who's voice had almost reached an unsettling pitch. " No father, it is as you well know the "Black Widow"... Look forward to when you begin Derek. Hi Gregory I'm sure having a blast with this vac. Have you got any pics of the Macchi? Nice lines those a/c. Finished the batt and reciver and over the years developed a method of doing one bit at a time and treating it as a model within a model, that way it seems to go faster? Denie

Nice tight paint job. Blending can be fun. What will you next ? Rgds Denie

One of the probs I have had is how to cut a correct circle, in this case a spinner that needs to be shorter in order to fit the diemensions of the Whirlwind spinner. I chose to use the typhoon spinner as it already had the correct profile but needed to be shorter. I understand that the Revell Typhoon spinner is too short and with outline issue. This is something I picked up trawling the net. Set up a piece of packing the hight you want to cut with, as you turn the spinner you will create a circle that will be correct in diameter with no deviation. Keep turning with a little pressure each time and soon you will have a new shortend spinner.

Had some time so I made a tray.

Hi all What have I been doing? Well apart from being a house Dad for a while I've been making two box things that go behind the seat, battery and radio transmitter/receiver. I've gone with the "looks ok" theology. Been sanding when I get time of basic bits still. Tail plane is rather thin might have to beef that up. Denie [/img]
