    1/32 B-25J

yes, a great challenge. the aft fuselage is different because they moved the top turret aft. Bruce
  5. I ordered one from Jerry several years ago and when I got it it included an appology note from him saying that "it wasn't very good and he was sorry, but it was one of the first I ever did, I've gotten better since then". It was unusable in my opinion and I never used any of it(I still have the single seat set, its yours for $20, which is half of what I paid for it). Aires puts out a great set for both the single seat and 2 seat 1/32 F-105. Bruce
  6. does anyone make any B model 1/32 P-51 decals for the Tuskegee airman a/c?
  7. with all the talk of a conversion...nobody(least that I've seen) has mentioned price. a complete conversion set, cockpit, wings, exhaust, tires, etc. will cost a fortune and bump up an already espensive kit cost before you even open the box. how available is the Tamiya C/D kit these days???? Bruce
  8. I made the combination going the other way. I used the nose of the E on a C fuselage. Its no problem to make main gear doors and you can get a nose gear strut from a SAC set for the Revell kit. I make some replacement tires so you would have thin tires. Seirra Hotel models is doing a set soon. Bruce http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=35161
  9. Kev, if you haven't glued the wing together I have an easy fix for the engine bay; http://partsrparts.homestead.com/Fw190.html Bruce
  10. Kevin, not to burst your bubble, but... you can't make a D-11 with this kit. There have been numerous discussions about this kit. do a search and you'll see. Bruce
  11. I've sent you a PM about some pics Bruce
  12. Kevin, If you aren't past the point of no return, I've got the Rutman correction for the wheel well and center wing I'd be glad to send you. Bruce (I know, where was I a week ago!)
  13. Barry, I could be wrong, but, I believe the raised ares ahead of the fuel vent(at the wing join) is a strengthening panel that wold not be there on early F-4s. you might want to check it> Bruce
  14. the 1/32 Trumpeter Harrier AV-8B. does anyone make them or is there an easy fix? this would be for the Aim-9 and Maverick rails. Bruce
  15. Its finished... now if I can only keep it in one piece. I'm taking it to the IPMS nationals. I hope to see some of you there. thanks for watching, Bruce
  16. I hand painted the unit markings on the model and vacformed my own drop tanks because none were available back in '81 when I built it. I have a history with the single seater...I converted a two seat to a single and won a first place at the national in Atlanta. A rep from Revell was there and saw the model and went back to CA and convinced them to do the single seater. the problem was they issued it with a smoked canopy. I sent the guy documentation that the only F-15 with a smoked canopy was the Demo version. He got the plastic changed on the next batch and for awhile they were issued with clear canopies. When Revell moved to Illinois that info must have been lost because they came out again with the smoked glass and so did all the D/E kits until the latest versions that have clear glass. Rumor has it the Revell Germany might reissue the single seater. Here are a couple shots of the conversion. I hand painted the decals after blowing up some 1/48 markings and made the tail markings also, and vacformed the canopy:
  17. mike, really nice job on your P-40 Bruce
  18. The Revell kit would make a good "Candy cane" F-15. You'll need to add some extra parts for a better cockpit/seat/etc., and you'll need some new tailcones. I would also get some metal landing gear, the mains seem to break at the curve of the strut. Here is a picture of a striped one I did years ago. I used the two Tamiya kits for my B in this case because a friend wanted to see if it could be done and gave me the kits to do it. Now I can also do a C with conformals from the parts of the other kit! Bruce
  19. I made some progress over the weekend: I should be done in a couple days... Bruce
  20. here is some more work that I did. I added some hook detail to the canopy. I also wanted to create this detail on the nose gear: I wasn't sure how I was going to make these "handles" then I thought I'd try a method I'd used before. I carved the shape of the handle on an old plastic paint brush handle. Once I was happy with that I used it to make impressions in a bed of clay. I poured some resin into the depressions and cast a couple pieces. When the resin hardened I popped it off the clay, cleaned it up and cut off the piece and sanded it thinner then glued them on. You can see the stages in this shot. then I glued them to the metal nose gear I had cast some years ago. more to come.... Bruce
  21. there are alot of other concerns about the kit. two that stick out are the depth of the rear cockpit and the intakes are about 3/16ths of an inch too long. look through all the reviews of the kit. Bruce
  22. thanks for the info, good story Bruce
