Radub
I.A.R.80 Decals This is a new decal sheet with markings for eight very colourful early-type I.A.R.80, including the famous I.A.R.80 No. 42. These silk-screen decals printed by Fantasy Printishop are available in scales 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72. The scale 1/48 decals will be particularly useful to those who want to build the recently-released Hobby Boss scale 1/48 I.A.R.80 kit, which contains inaccurate decals for the national insignia and markings. You can find these decals in our webstore: Scale 1/32: http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_65&products_id=706 Scale 1/48: http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_66&products_id=707 Scale 1/72: http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_67&products_id=708 Thank you for your support., Radu http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=706 alaninaustria, LSP_Kevin and Alburymodeler

Out2gtcha
AWESOME! Because I just happen to walk by the Special Hobby vendors booths and picked up a "Rumainian Defender" with no tax or shipping for $55! As soon as I get paid again, I'm ordering a set of these. Is that 3rd ship from the top on the right grey w/natural metal? Edited July 29, 2017 by Out2gtcha
Out2gtcha
Crap. Now I'm sad, I just realized the Defender kit I have is the 81, not the 80. Are there any decals available for the SH IAR 81? Edited July 29, 2017 by Out2gtcha
LSP_Ray
I don't think they offered a straight 80 kit, but to my feeble memory, I don't think the changes are hard to do. Radu also offers decals for the IAR 80-M, and includes instructions on the modifications. Not to mention THE book on the IAR 80/81.
ironman1945
I was looking at converting an 81 to an 80 when the Azur kit first came out, and for me there was more to change than I thought there would be. Then Radu marketed a conversion kit to turn the 81 into an 80; luckily I purchased one; I notice its no longer available on his website. LSP_Kevin
I believe FRROM is scheduled to bring out the I.A.R.80 itself very soon. Kev
Radub
Thanks everyone for your kind words and support. This decal sheet covers the first series of I.A.R.80, which was armed with 4 machine guns and had short wings and short nose. It is possible to convert the existing Special Hobby or Azur FRROM I.A.R.81-C (final version of the I.A.R.80/81 series) by shortening the wingtips, shortening the fuselage at the firewall and rescribing the wing weapon access panels. There are some other small changes around the fuselage and cockpit, but nothing major. This is "doable" for the average modeller. However, if you are willing to wait a little, Azur FRROM is going to release a I.A.R.80A in the coming months. That will be a much better starting point to make an I.A.R.80. Basically, the main difference is that the I.A.R.80 had 4 guns whereas the I.A.R.80A had 6 guns, so all you need to do is to fill and scribe the panel lines for the outboard guns. I know that the I.A.R.80/81 is a bit of a minefield, so the best thing to do is to use the existing references in print. The book by Dan Antoniu in Romanian or French and the books I wrote can help. You can safely ignore Wikipedia, it is a mess. HTH Radu
Wackyracer
Is that 3rd ship from the top on the right grey w/natural metal? Radu? My post of the same question Friday didn't post for some reason. Will await the new kit though. 81C from Special hobby at paint on the bench right now and really enjoying it.
Radub
All the aircraft depicted in this decal sheet are based on photos that were published in my book "Vanator - Romanian Hunter". There is a photo in the book, depicting No. 26 with large parts of the fuselage unpainted or in primer, yet wearing markings. It is unclear whether it flew painted (or unpainted :-) ) like that.
