Triceratops Iwata test bed.

BTW, I bent the tip of the needle in thePaasche...then I straighten it by bending it back/filing it...and went back to spraying like a champ! Good AB!

Shaka Hi, 99 out of a hundred guys would end up having to buy a new needle. Consider yourself way ahead of the game.

I love my Paasche Talon, but I use it to spray my primer coat because it just better at it than the Iwata. It does have the adjustment feature that somewhat mimics a single action AB as well. It's freaking bullet proof and I can modulate just so, to spray as fine as the Iwata, but the trigger is not as smooth so I've been using the Iwata more than the Paasche, lately. Still an awesome AB and nicely priced, too!

Another reason for the Iwata? I can spray longer with it before the compressor kicks in. I don't know why, but I can adjust the Iwata just so and spray a long time before the tank is drained at a given PSI, so I can spray longer/quieter with the Iwata.

But if I could afford one AB, it will be the Paasch Talon (of course, I have another Iwata coming soon..)!

I showed my Talon to Martin over Skype. He was nonplussed. The thing simply won't work. It's in my cupboard. Useless. Money thrown away.

I won't ever try Paasche again.

Dale, that's one weird looking Koala you have running there, you know :)

At least it's not a dropbear!

Yesterday I did very little. Was tired. So last night I continued with Shaka.

I've got several AB's one of which is the Paashe Talon and view them as Kevin does, a different tool. Will have to see how mine does I guess.

I don't think I am making myself clear. It does not work at all. It will not even spray water.

As a tool, it is useless.

The company never responded to my queries either.

So as a consumer, I won't revisit that company. Simple.

Perhaps I just got a bad one. For over 150 bucks though I expect better. My money, my choice.

Thus far of the 4 airbrushes I've bought, the Sparmax and Iwata are best. Why? They work. :)

Yikes!!! I hear ya. I'd be pissed off too if I spent that much money to have that kind of problems without any help towards a path of resolution.

Mate I think of everything in terms of drums. Some shells suit one better than another.

Cool.

All the top brand make good gear.

But sometimes there's one shell in a kit that doesn't cut it. Like a bass drum I had to mic in rehearsal!

I've avoided that brand ever since. And I don't play favourites with companies such as Iwata or Badger or whatever. I have no shares in them. I simply don't care. Once bitten twice shy.

Anyway I now have two that work. And my Infinity is going to be refurbished by the importer for free. So I'm sweet. :)

Whatever you did with the horns on that Triceratops -- looks awesome, Dale!

Also, got one of these single-action, AB with a 0.3 tip for fine detail work. Sprays wonderfully!

Shaka Hi,

You're going to love the M1 once you get use to holding it for long periods of time. The small size lets you kind of cup the gun.  Also cleaning it is a breeze. And when you need to take the needle out for a good cleaning, it's quick and easy. There's one heads up you need to be aware of. The needle can't be removed from the front, only through the back. So any paint that is still stuck on the needle will be dragged through the seal as you pull it out. What I do is after I dump the left over paint, is to fill the bowl with Lacquer Thinner, a quick wipe and dump, I soak a Q tip in Lacquer Thinner, then holding it on top of the needle I remove the needle which gets cleaned by the Q tip. Then I clean the bowl as usual.

Now this is fun! I am looking forward to painting my new Pegasus T-Rex. Great way to have fun using the air brush. Even better no one knows what the skin/hide looked like. She will be stylish. I will add a bit of "Luftwaffe tree branch" camouflage pattern for example. Best part is the face with all those teeth. The eye will be glass from the doll industry. I will select mean looking doll eyes for sure.

Oh yes. Thanks for bringing up the Paache brush. I was unaware of it.

Have fun always

From what I've learned at sites like Chicago Air Brush is that these features are really intended for air brush artists who need to feather on the run, use multiple air brushes, etc. For our needs I've yet to read of anyone needing to feather/modulate the actual air flow during one application of a painting session. If I ever found that I need to do that, Iwata makes a bleeder valve you can attach between the connect and hose that allows you to make fine adjustments.

Joel

I use the fine adjustment valve all the time when I use my Iwata. I use it as the final tweek to adjust for variation in the paint dilution. Good for fine lines. I need one for my VL small needle setup.

Although I mentioned it in another thread, I have a nice man looking my Paasche Talon. During my period of complaining I was having brain issues. As that cleared I simply contacted a man at an airbrush shop. He has it now. Chances are he'll get it working. :)
