ProgrammerGuy
Hey everyone! I'm new here but I've been working on a cool project lately (at least I think it's cool). I love R/C and model planes and programming... so I combined them. I've been working on a program to help me design wings for planes and was excited to show it off, even though it's far from finished. Would love to hear what you all think about it! Will share more about it in the future and of course, some planes I make with it. I like working in CAD so I plan on making some really detailed models of wings with working slats, flaps, landing gear, etc. Here's the link to a quick video I made to show it off: Wouter, Rockie Yarwood, Smokey and 1 other

ssculptor
What l need is a Q AND D method to make wings for WW1 aeroplanes with all the wavy shapes. Any suggestions? BTW, Q&D stands for Quick and Dirty. Ssculptor
ProgrammerGuy
@Out2gtcha @MARU5137 Thanks!! @ssculptor I don't have any suggestions unfortunately. I do plan on adding the ability to make wings with complex curves but that's a little while away.
ssculptor
Hi ProgrammerGuy, I can always go back to the old stick & tissue process . I should be able to think of one or two shortcuts. ssculptor.
MikeMaben
Way over my head, but good luck with it anyway Bill
ssculptor
Even if I fail the attempt to find a Q&D method to produce WW1 wings the effort does yield pleasue. What more can l desire? Ssculptor
Thomas Lund
Sooo.... what are you trying to do ? Get lift/drag estimate out of a construction... bend forces ? Or just a mechanical construction for gear, flaps etc ? Edit: Didn't notice it was a video at first - answered my questions :-) Good work - how about elliptical wings (Spitfire) ? ssculptor
Not that much ENGINEERING, Heaven forbid. I just want to approximate the look of the wings of the first 20 years of 20th C aeroplanes. I retired from engineering many years ago and went back to sculpture. I'm not entirely sure about elliptical wings. I'm sure I'll get to that at some point though! May have to be a special wing type as it doesn't really fit the equations I currently use. Rockie Yarwood
Really cool, I can see potential applications for static scale modeling. But it kinda' leaves me feeling like a dinosaur - I'm an analog man living in a digital world! Best of luck with your project, Rockie
