boiss123
So I have the Tamiya kit of the A6M2b zero and plan on doing an aircraft form the Soryu or the Hiryu. So here is my problem, I have always been of the opinion that the fuselage bands were a dark blue, like a cobalt blue for the attack on Pearl Harbor, what Tamiya provides in the kit is bands that are more like a sky blue which I think where used at the battle of Midway. Can anybody shed any light on this as to which color I should use for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Thanks Denis BiggTim
Iain
Hi Denis, Welcome aboard! I'm not knowledgeable enough on the subject to give any answer - but I'm pretty sure there will be someone around here that can... Iain BiggTim
BiggTim
I'm no authority on Japanese aircraft, so I have to refer to things like this: http://www.detailandscale.com/attack_on_pearl_harbor.html (scroll thru the previews) It shows an explanation of second carrier group markings on page 52, I think. If that's anywhere close to accurate, then sky blue doesn't sound right to me either. And if you're new here, welcome! Kagemusha
I'd say the best place is here, and it's the correct shade of blue on the profile. Gazzas, BiggTim and Iain
Juggernut
Dark blue is correct. That color insert is another instance of “TAMIYA isn’t right all the time”...that goes for their A6M2 zero paints as well. BiggTim
