Radders
Hi guys, Now the He-111 is done, I've moved onto some smaller kits in hope 'the smaller they are, the more chance of finishing', that's the plan anyway. I've never built a 1/144th kit before so it's something different too and I'm also learning that AModel isn't a Tamiya fit kit.... no bother, keeps the cogs working 'n all that.. I think it will make a nice little kit though when done, providing I can do it justice.. Some photos of the progress so far, AModel Be-12P 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr AModel Be-12P 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Be-12P AModel 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Be-12P AModel 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Fitting the wings... it was either sand it really thin and keep the wings level, or have the wings level and a slight ridge, so I went for the ridge option and smoothed out with filler, looks better in the flesh and I'm happy with the result. I'm half tempted to just paint it then paint the windows in...? LSP_Kevin
Nice work Radders! Looks a challenging kit. For the glazing, one option is to paint the inside gloss black, then install it like a standard kit part. You can then fill, sand and polish until you get a satisfactory fit, and then mask and paint the framing as normal. Kev Radders
Guest Peterpools
Radders Wonderful work on the 1/144th Be-12P. Glad to see you're enjoying the smaller scales. Enjoying your build Keep 'em coming Peter
Radders
Cheers Kev, I hadn't thought of that. Have looked at the glazing tonight and I might try and do it the same way I did the He-111... do each individual frame line one at a time.. takes a while but it works well, but not having done that before on 1/144th stuff, I might end up just painting the windows in! lol Cheers Peter too, Radleigh. Radders
Thanks guys, really enjoying this and I wasn't expecting that being 1/144th... however I'm not looking forward to using this - Be-12P AModel 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Bad fit of clear parts, going to fill these in and paint. The nose glass I will polish and I think I will mask off and see how it looks, but I might just paint them in. Be-12P AModel 1/144th by Totallyrad.co.uk, on Flickr Rear boom is also a bad fit, will blend all this in now with the tail.... LSP_Kevin
Nice progress Radders! What a strange craft this is - and so Russian! I'm trying to mentally picture how big this model is - can you post it with a jar of paint or something familiar for reference? Kev

LSP_Kevin
First post Kevin, two jars of Tamiya Red & Black Thanks mate. Ah, looks like I wasn't paying attention early up. It's smaller than I thought! Kev Radders
Guest Peterpools
Radders Some terrific progress and it seems no matter what the scale, we need to deal with classically the same problems: fit, seams, glass and fixing those pesky panel lines. Keep ';em coming Peter
Radders
I am dreading the front section, but I want to try and keep it with the clear parts see-through.. the join is right by a frame line. Will see what it looks like under some primer soon.
Lee White
Looks light-years ahead of the Masterkit 1/144 Be-12 i have in the stash. I might have to trade up.
Radders
It is a lovely little kit Lee! Lil'update too... The rear end boom is all flush and sorted but I forgot to photograph it.. however I've started on the tiny etch you get with this kit and not having used etch before (well I did as a kid on a Dragon Fw-190, but it looked... ), I was a little anxious... it's not that bad though, cleaning up of the parts was the hardest part, but I managed to gently go along the edge once fixed with a sanding sponge so it is now nice and smooth.. Little bit of cleaning up to do, but other than that I'm happy..
