  1. A Jet Provost/Strikemaster! And I thought I had a weakness for odd subjects...
  2. Congrats, your Hunter is an excellent piece of work you share with us. I really like it, the paintjob is something unusual. One question, did you find the air intake to be such a pain, too? I consider to split it in half lenghtwise, next time. I have no idea how to get rid of that seam...
  3. Oh yes, a RN-Phantom, that would be very nice...
  4. Here's a drawing. No idea about accuracy...
  5. Yay, good to learn, I'm not the only one who had to strip a model... ...but how did you manage that without loosing several parts?
  6. A stunning piece of work. Well done!
  7. Yeah, perfect, I think, I give up... ...the best way to completely mess up a model is trying to fix it  I tried to strip that stoopid layer of non-sticking primer, just to learn it actually DOES adhere very well in places... ...actually better than various bits and pieces likes flaps, windscreens and so on. Well, the paint not intended to strip in some hard to reach places went off as well, like in the wheel wells or one of the wing oil coolers. I just stopped now before I also mess up the cockpit. Perhaps just to find out later that it is already to late... Boy, I'm in a terrible anger right now  Probably another model I can put on my way to long f***ed up-list. Perhaps its time for a new hobby for me, I suppose...
  8. Well, I am using the Duplicolor Aerosol Art grey universal primer. Had no problem yet, but I might try the sanding, the plastic surface is mostly as smooth as it comes out of the mould. The primer seems affect the plastic, at least, where the paint came off, the surface has a flat shine. Gna, I hate it, tear everything off again... I'll probably try one wing first, before I tread the whole thing again just to find out the model does not like the primer... But thanks a lot Sheesh, how do you spray straight lines without calming your trembling hands in time? But Martini makes an expensive thinner... Indeed, this chance was not to be missed...
  9. Well, the day could have been sooooo good... ...after I primed my 109 yesterday, I woke up in the morning, had breakfast, bought me a bottle of fresh alcohol, fired up my compressor, started with a preshading, continued with the tailband (as it is black, I could do it in one shot), did the lower engine cover in yellow, put it aside for a couple of hours to let it dry, started masking of the tailband and... ...the whole primer came off... What a terrible waste of time. Now I have no idea what to do. I was under the impression, I cleaned the model thourougly with water and soap and rinsed well, but the primer does not stick to the model. In fact, I can abuse it with my finger nails just like I want to, but if I try to pull of the masking film, everything comes off. Doesn't make a difference, if I use painters tape or artists airbrush masking film. Now that had to struggle not to jay the model in this very second , so its time to sit down and rethink my procedures. What are your thoughts on preparing, priming and masking, so this does not happen to me again? I am just to lazy to do everything twice... Thanks in advance for your help!
  10. ROFL, now that would it be, a working overrev light in the cockpit That would only be topped by a working EGT-gauge. Maybe Pierre can give the one or other hint how to wire it
  11. If you do not already have a programm at home, download Irfanview, as it is for free and resize them, that does the trick
  12. Watch the dude's pants in the background of the first pic...
  13. Well, if you don't tell us before what you do next... But as you are now into jets (good boy! ), you might come across the Starfighter sooner or later, that one made also use of the J-79
  14. Well, I know about your insanity, I just don't know how insane you really are Picci A bit difficult to see, the static blades are mounted to the inside of all those fasteners you can see on the compressor section. A few of them are visible on the top of the cutaway A bit of a stupid angle to see the details
  15. The Ripper strikes again! A tremendous start, but there's a massive fault: I miss the static flow directing blades inside the engine Just joking, will be interesting to see what it will all contain
  16. Hehe, yes, that was my thought, too: someone took the expression "drop tank" a bit literally
  17. And how many are left on the stack? Nice start, but I'm sure it will look great, again
  18. A bit out of my range ATM, but being one of the best allied fighters in WW2 and an elegant lady, too, I have a general interest in it.
  19. Now that is an excellent way to introduce yourself. Very nicely done cockpit
  20. --> QUOTE(derek B @ Nov 7 2006, 10:47 AM) 92312[/snapback] Hi Chris, I probably have a good one of the Hunter somewhere...I'll see what I can find for you. Derek Derek, would you mind sharing it with me, too? I don't exactly intend to do a Chris the Ripper-cutaway with my Hunter, but it might come handy for what I want to do
  21. Now that's a really great result for a quick job. You build a prototype kit faster than I glue a pair of wings... I really like it, even though it is a prop
  22. Unfortunately low-res, but here are two for the Hunter.
  23. Very nice paintjob. Makes me want to start mine... ...must resist, finish that bloody 109 first Na, seriously, looks very fine.
  24. If you want to go really large, how about an AC-47? Otherwise, for me, the most elegant lady out there was the F-8 Crusarder, though that bird is yet to come. I also consider doing something Vietnam-based for quite some time. I still have a set of Warriors very nice 1/32 Vietnam pilots around, I just don't know what to do with them. A Phantom would be the logical choice, as these are two figures, but they could also enter a doubleseated F-105. I think, the Starfighter can be ruled out, that did not do very well in Vietnam and does look better in bare-naked metal than in SEA-dress anyways. In gull grey and white, the A-4 and A-6 are worth to be mentioned, perhaps or if you are into recce, the RA-5 is the scratchbuilders choice A Voodoo is also still missing in 1/32, otherwise I'd consider a RF-101. If I should make a list, I think it would look like this: Crusarder Voodoo Super Sabre Thunderchief Skyhawk Vigilante Intruder Phantom
