  1. Bondo doesn't stick well to styrene, in my experience- Lee
  2. Hi Allok, So far, it looks like you've been able to tame the beast! I'm going to have to try another one of these- Just a simple one, without too many bells and whistles. And I think Larry is correct- I think these ARE a step up from vacs. And when you find out who slipped a pill in your coffee, remember to share! Lee
  3. After seeing your Canberra, Mohawk, and Bronco, I think I know who REALLY has the Master's touch, Mon Frere!!!! Hope to see your Kingfisher too!! Lee
  4. Hi Ran out of time for the revell build, but now i've got some more time, and will do this one- Have not cut any plastic yet, but I'm gonna steal an engine and prop from a Peashooter, and various cockpit bits for the insides. Won't have to worry about wheel wells, tho! Lee
  5. Yup. Been there, done that. Had a 1/32 Ju-88, and I thought, "How hard could it be?" and then found out by trying to build it. The masters of the genre can make the tires look like they are from an injection kit. Can paper be vac-formed? That's the only way I can figure how they do things like that. I'll try again someday, but woe to the modeler who underestimates these little buggers- Lee
  6. Great looking build!! I remember reading some things about the 1/1 Komet- That it's fuel tanks leaked, and dissolved the pilot in flight, and the LG lever having to be in "neutral" so the skid would absorb the landing shock, and not transmit the shock to the pilot's back, etc. Any truth to these stories?? Lee
  7. Looking in the background, it looks like you've completed the tail feathers- You'll be finished in no time! Great looking build, BTW- Lee
  8. I'd love to see this one in 32nd- Ugly planes are great!
  9. Hi Derek! Your widow looks like it's gonna need a hanger of it's own! Are you going to glass the fuselage and slosh acetone in it to remove the foam, or will the foam remain as a structural element in the finished model? Inquiring minds want to know!!! Lee
  10. Posting these pics for an LSP'er who asked about it. The Seamew was a really ugly FAA ASW plane that never made it to large scale production, with only 19 built. Eventually the FAA went with the Gannet- Side view, with Testor MM bottle to show scale, and front view, to show how narrow the thing was. Broad-shouldered pilots need not apply!
  11. 21C seems to have a policy of putting other people's models on their box-tops. The 21 zero on the box is one example, the corsair another- Model has open cowl flaps, box closed, 1/18 Avenger shows the double-fold bomb-bay doors, model has conventional bomb bay doors. So, the kit not having the features on the box is not surprising, IMHO.
  12. What is that thing in the middle? It looks like David Letterman's microphone!
  13. Ack! The props all wrong! The rivets too big! The model is unbuildable!!! Seriosly, EM, you have done a wonderful job of putting the naysayers in their place with your build. Also, to anyone who thinks that this is such a bad kit, why does it keep selling out at the local hobby shops if it's so bad? Hmmm.... Lee
  14. Excellent idea for the exhaust! I scored a 21st Century F-4U-1A/D and while there is a spot to plug in the exhaust parts, they are not included, or even mentioned in the instructions!! Gotta go get some Q-tips.... Lee
  15. the warp in the wing resembles the wings of the plane in your avatar!
  16. Hi Guys! Well, I finally startred this thing- Here is the cockpit so far-
  17. Slight update bump- I'm almost done scribing, and then ready for paint- Woo-Hoo-!! Also, I have talked with someone who is manufacturing aftermarket accesories for LSP's, and he explained to me that he's lookinfg to do a large scale (1/32-1/35) Cheyenne in Resin. I told him to look here at mine, and if you'd like to see a resin '56, let him know here on this forum. I told him that I thought that it would be a winner- Lee
  18. I really enjoyed following this build. It reminds me of the the fact that we should really build for our own satisfaction, and not for anyone else. In this day and age where we seem to build for everyone else's visual gratification, seeing a model built like this reminds me of how I used to build, and of how much personal satisfaction it gave me, not to mention the simple, pure fun of it. Maybe I'll put away the airbrush and buy a wide brush instead.... Lee
  19. Jim, Please pass on my congratulations to your son for doing an absolutley outstanding job on his model. He should be very proud of his accomplishment, and thankful for a dad that helps him in his hobbies- Lee PS- send in more pics so Greg can have his own entry in the Gallery section-
  20. Hello all, Well, Black it is!! Thanks to everyone who responded to my Q- You guys are great!!! Lee
  21. Found only a few pics on Google- Swiss birds were Green, and I found 1 pic with an overall black cockpit, like '50's English jets, but I'd like to find a definitive answer before beginning my GB kit- Thanks! Lee
  22. Hello Iain- I will be sending you an e-mail in the next few hours(gotta go to work now)- Talk to you soon- Lee
  23. Absolutely first-rate work here. I like the clever engineering involved in the fuselage stretch- I'll be embarrassed to enter my box-stock Mirage! (well, maybe not box-stock- I can't find the decals Lee
