  1. err, so are the kit wheels correct for an early (F1) bird, or if not which ones do i use? sorry, am a bit confused! thanks, Nick
  2. it is only a £100 kit if you are stupid enough to buy it in the UK. everywhere else, even allowing for shipping, it is waaaaay cheaper. Hannants: £97.98 (free shipping on £100+, so all you have to do is buy something small and you're there...) Luckymodel: $97.99 + $38.16 Airmail, or + $24.96 Surface = £83.36 or £75.28 you can save even more if you buy in their sale
  3. i agree that some updates would be nice, and those comparable to say the TSR.2 in 1/48 would be awesome. come on CMK / Aires / Pavla etc etc - get "resinating"!!! all i know of are Mastercasters exhaust nozzles and early / late wheels, either out now or in nrea future. http://www.mastercasters.co.uk/22.html
  4. nice diorama and also thank you for posting the Tante Ju pics - very cool indeed!
  5. ok...one off topic jet question: when a F-16 etc is "Block 50" what does that mean??? oh, and i like the Tomcats in Top Gun, but that doesn't really count i suppose!
  6. Hi Scotsman, sorry - did come across as a bit of a rant! i don't really do post WWII, but the Harrier is definitely a plane that i would buy, but only in British colours (TSR.2 and EE Lightning are the only other post War kits i have, so you prob get the picture). so, like you say, here's looking fwd to the RAF versions
  7. do i understand that this kit will only model a US plane? how sad if so, given we invented the damn thing - hey the whole damn concept! yours, in the land of the ever shrinking defence budget, Nick
  8. i meant all we need is a Val... none out there that i know of, but then again i don't do vac etc etc
  9. a Kate in 1/32 would be pretty cool i have to admit - just need a Val and then you have the complete Pearl Harbour set!
  10. i have the PCM kit, and have bought lots of resin from Jerry Rutman (thank you Jerry) to upgrade / make it accurate. i do not have the Rutman cockpit (yet?!) and am already wary that, having only previously made one limited run kit (1/48 Bolton Paul Defiant), i am rapidly getting out of my depth i have no idea how much chopping / filing it will take to get the JR wheel wells to fit my kit, and i don't want to even THINK about the engine plug (lovely though it is, i have to emphasize). so... can someone please post some side by side pics of the PCM kit cockpit with Jerry's one? before i consider more expense and more possible testing of my limited modelling skills, i want to see if I WILL ACTUALLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE say, if the canopy is closed? i'm not doubting your stuff Jerry - again i can't say anything bad at all about it, it looks stunning - just wondering whether it's "right for me"?? thanks, Nick
  11. hi, i have seen the many great scratchbuilding efforts on here using various bits of sheet styrene, rods and tubes etc. where is the best (UK?) online source for all this stuff? specifically, i gather that evergreen seem to be the leaders for all this stuff (correct?), so where is best source for this? i looked at hannants but they only had a few slater's bits and bobs, and didn't have any pics etc. many thanks, nick
  12. sounds like some Irish chap up to no good. who is he??
  13. i'm with you on that one!! whilst i feel confident installing say an aires resin cockpit set etc, somehow i still to shudder and come over all faint when people say things like "using a 1mm piece of plasticard and cut and file it to shape"!! yours, looking at his chunky, curved and rather yellow fingers, Nick
  14. Ron, afaik the top of it is too narrow, so it looks just "wrong", despite - perhaps because - the other dimensions seem ok. apparently where the flaw comes from is that the rear piece fixed to the fuselage flares out in real life, but eduard missed this, hence top piece too thin. that is v much long and short of it - the issue has been done to death (and i mean TO DEATH!) on hyperscale. Nick
  15. i have the E-1 and it's a great kit. not perfect, but a great kit. the canopy business on the e-4 is disappointing, as is their response. maybe they will issue a "fix"? if not, i will go for Radu's canopy, but i am sooooo scared that mine will look like a "post-crach" canopy!! are his canopies actually easy to construct?! thanks, nick
  16. now if only someone had the equivalent pics for the Spitfire...(sigh)...
  17. Speak to Jerry about a correction set - he already has one, just not in name
  18. looks great...and isn't JG27's logo just THE COOLEST THING EVER EVER EVER??!!
  19. i will still buy one whatever, but i have to say Eduard are missing a trick here - not in the modelling sense (everybody goofs) but in the PR stakes. i have just spent about 30mins on hyperscale and there is a "wingnut like frenzy" over there about all this, and the company is getting crushed!!! a shame, as i really like their stuff. going to be a "Radu" or a Squadron canopy for me, although i am slightly daunted by using either - i don't "do" vac, and Radu's one looks waaaaay fiddly.
  20. Bernd, new information for me... i learnt something new today! Nick
  21. hi, nice looking build. one comment: the camo should be hard-edged surely? (one could argue that even in 1/32 a wavy / graduated scheme would still appear hard-edged to the naked eye, but that's not the point - i've never seen an Emil in those colours with anything but hard-edge splinter...) thanks again for posting pics cheers, nick
