  1. Brian This was worth waiting for! I doubt we'll see a better job done on the Aires engine set - somthing to aim for. Thanks for posting these three 109s. They have been an inspiration. Matt
  2. Hi Guys I've 'voted' for a set of these a while back on the Quick Boost web site. If a few others were to put in a vote they may make a set for us. QuickBoost voting page Matt
  3. Brian Gorgeous work from you here. I have to say that savvy's b/w treatment does the job for me, it shows how you've got the contrast/tonal qulities just right. Radu's canopy looks really nice as well - makes such a difference to the overall feel of the thing. Like the pilot - is he a commercial product? If so who makes him? Thanks Matt
  4. Keith Sorry, hadn't noticed that aspect of the rules. The engine does look nice - I have one of these kits just for the engine and have looked at it wondering if it'd be super-detail-able enough to fit into a newer 190? Anyway looking forward to watching this one progress. Matt
  5. Hi Keith One item you may wish to get hold of for this old kit is a set of replacement gun bay covers (the kit's ones are too rounded). I only say this because firstly this is a very visible problem with this kit and secondly with the advent of the new mold 190 someone on this forum may be able to let you have a set (I would if I had a set). I think Cutting Edge made them. Anyway, good luck with this rebuild, its not a bad kit, just eclipsed by the later rendition. Matt
  6. I have the 1:18 FW 190D-9 and should be taking delivery of the new C21st 262 n/f soon. They are not too difficult to 'break down' into their constituent parts (bit hairy at times with some of the glued joints!). I think the way to think of these is a vac form which has been cut from its backing for you. Panel lines remind me of the Matchbox '32nd stuff - bit eavy. Detail is often compromised to allow for working features - for eg on the D-9 the u/c retracts. This has an impact on u/c detail (leg and door are a single piece) and the wheel well - very simplified. I have taken a hacksaw to mine and am making into even more, smaller pieces with the intention of doing it up with a reasonably high level of detail. Not enough done at the moment to show any pics. HTH Matt PS they are BIG - I think that's what gives them real 'presence' (probably what people used to say about 1/32 & 1/24. Matt
  7. John How about these - gleaned from somewhere off the web some time ago......
  8. Very nice workmanship there Keith. It is impressive to see a completely scratched cockpit - all that white plasticard - you must have used sun glasses to see what you were up to! Matt
  9. Finally, I've been working on one of the wings. Solid chunk of resin but still was able to cut out (and correct size of) aileron and cut/scrape away area for including dropped flap. Unmodified wing on right. More later. Matt
  10. Layout of cockpit parts, still more to add/detail up. Front bulkhead will be trimmed to shape after its glued in place
  11. Charles & SeanH thanks for the images. Still not sure about doing the engine??? I've been concentrating on the cockpit area. Had great fun making up the spar - lots of tiny bits of plastic and many expletives later - something not too bad The original front spar part is now relegated to the rear. The control column bases and the rudder pedal base have been removed from the original floor and thinned to fit. The large hole nearest you is going to have the second pair of pedals with mechanism exposed
  12. Lovely work so far Tony. Looking forward to seeing more as you progress. Matt
  13. Lovely work Georch This'll be a fine Dora when finished. Do give us a nice photo shoot when it is all done. Matt
  14. A quick request - does anyone have details of the Hirth HM 504 engine? Scale drawings/3-view would be very useful. Matt
  15. New pit sat in place. There aren't many parts in this kit, but I'm doing my best to increase the number - where's that razor saw....? Finally basic shape of whole machine. More to come soon. Matt
  16. I made up a new basic interior shape for the pit using just one piece of the resin. More detail to add - some from the kit, some scratched.
  17. Its a chunky little kit and as soon as I started tinkering I worked out the nose needed to come off to allow the pit floor to extend far enough forward - so much for quick build.
  18. Hi all This is an all resin kit with a vac canopy. I intended this as an out of the box build as a respite from the BV 155 and a bit more practice with resin prior to even thinking about starting Radu's Arado Blitz! This is Planet Models' Bu 181 Bestmann. Late in the war panzerfaust rocket launchers were slung over and under each wing leading to an improvised anti-tank aircraft (really). I shall be making an example of one of those machines.
  19. Impressive work Perry. Look forward to your next build. Matt
  20. Geoff I've just gone through this whole thread from the beginning and its absolutely excellent. So many inspirational approaches to problems - its very educational. This is one of those builds that you just want to go on as there's so much entertainment and education in here. Cheers Matt
  21. Beautiful finish as always Sandro. Particularly like the cockpit. Matt
  22. Excellent 109 Ron. I do have a soft spot for these desert schemes. Matt
  23. Great work on the u/c, coming along very nicely. I've sent you a drawing via email which will show the location of the radio compartment hatch. Drawings are of a single seater but location is as far as I know the same. Matt
