Interesting that Paul's pic of 53 has yellow wings but no red dot in the stars. Unless that is just a leading edge stripe of yellow? Seems like that would be weird considering that was a Japanese recognition scheme...

I am ecstatic! I will pre-order one as soon as I can. Now we have Kingfisher, Arado, Walrus, even a PBY in the one true scal. Hey, where's our Duck?...

I was being a bit tongue in cheek on the 'crap' comment, it seemed to me that was the tone, if not the words. And even flush rivets are slightly raised, they are just flat as opposed to domed rivets. I still stand by my comment.
  4. FYI, if you want to try and use a 1/35th kit, be aware there is no Flak 18 in kit form, which was made in few numbers and production stopped in 1936 before the war started. I distrust wiki on this one as I would think the 110 probably carried the revised Flak 36 which was a revised version that was lighter in weight than the 18. Would be weird they would use an outdated, heavier, weapon. Not that they didn't do weird things...

OK, now wait. We are arguing about the representation of rivets. Which are typically represented by small depressions on a plastic model, even though rivets are actually slightly raised in reality. But wait, the real aircraft may have been spot-welded. Spot welds show as small depressions in sheet metal. So we are saying the kit is 'crap' because the slight depressions are supposed to represent slightly raised flush rivets instead of slight depressions caused by spot welds???
  6. Wow! Again... :clap2:
  7. I used thinned Humbrol Matte. It really is dead-flat and just requires a thin coat. I often add some Humbrol Satin to get a slight sheen.
  8. In...cred...ible!!! Looks exquisite, Peter!
  9. That is really sweet, Jeroen, really sweet!!! Weathering is spot on.
  10. I am in Sarge's boat. Have a ton of the stuff. Been selling off the outdated stuff.
  11. Looking great, Peter! The soldering turned out wonderful! One thing I have learned for small parts, like PE items, that you want to solder is that tinning works really well. Melt some solder on the tip of the iron, and place it on a fluxed part where you want it to connect, basically coating the backside of the part with solder. Then clamp it to where you want it to go and heat the assembly till you see the solder flash. Let it cool, and there you have it! It lets you connect those really small parts without a ton of cleaning of excess solder. In 1/24th scale, of course, you get to work with larger parts!
  12. Looks really great with all the detail! It is too bad about the nose glazing, but wow, definitely looks doable!
  13. It would be cool if you could find one in NMF. Looks like a great start on the nose gear!!!
  14. Beautiful work, Graham, simply beautiful!
  15. Nice build! Makes an impressive OOTB model.
  16. Swwweeeeeeeettttttt!!!!!
  17. Nice start, Kev! Looks like a few fit issues with that kit... Coincidentally, I have also had a meal inside a KC-97/C-97 aircraft. But the one I ate in was in McMinnville, at the airport. It was right across the street from where the museum is now. They actually flew it in then gutted it and built the restaurant in it. Strange thing was, when the restaurant went under, they re-fitted the aircraft (not sure how much flight equipment was removed) and flew the aircraft out! Have no idea where it went to.
  18. The recon Me262 looks great, John! And do I hear the JU-388 J is next? The night fighter version I assume? If so, let me know when you are taking pre-orders and I will send payment for the 388 J and the 262/U-3! Thanks for your efforts!
  19. Looking nice, Kai! Love the metallic on the exhaust.
  20. Stunning is right!!!
  21. Yikes even in 1/48th! I wonder what the price for this one is going to be.
