    While at the IPMS Nats in Las Vegas, I ran into the Casemate Publishing boys; nice folks:)

    One thing led to another and before ya know it, I was walking away with multiple detail books from their Duke Hawkins series.

    These are awesome books crammed with pics taken with a modeler in mind.

     

    First up and one of my faves; the SEPECAT Jaguar.

    Cockpit Detail Sets for the HK Models 1/32 Lancaster

    Hey Guys,

     

    I picked up the HK Models Lancaster "Nose Art" boxing a few months back and have been looking to add some aftermarket sets.

    Airscale and Eduard have both produced multi-media detail sets so, of course, I had to pick up both and compare. I know you understand:)

    Back from IPMS Vegas with a Bunch of Awesome Model Pics: Great Show!

    Hey Guys,

    I just returned from IPMS Vegas where an amazing collection of over 3,000 models was on display.

    The average build level was the highest I've ever seen at the Nat's (this is my 4rth).

    Thanks to everyone that took time from the show to attend my presentations on airbrushing.

    It was very nice to put faces to names:)

    I've got a huge collection of your transfers and have used them for years so thanks for such great products!

     

    Glad the 20ml jars are working for you i.e., no evaporation, etc.

    Unfortunately, there is no 30ml version available in that specific jar.

    I am working on adding a 50ml version.

    For a quick answer, you might try our pharmaceutical-grade 40ml storage bottles that come with mixing balls, a funnel, and a guide for marking gradations.

    Mission Clear Primer as a Metallic Clear Coat

    Hey Guys,

     

    Although the scale is small for this forum, this article on my Eduard 1/48 Me-109G-6 in a metal finish has a recipe for using Mission Clear Primer as a Metallic Clear Coat; pretty handy for sealing a coat of lacquer metallic prior to using enamel panel liners.  Most importantly, Clear Primer doesn't affect the metallic sheen of the finish or appear over-glossed as Future or similar can.

    The New HK Models 1/32 Lancaster Nose Section w/ Pin-up Art

    Hey Guys,

    I just picked mine up from my local hobby shop.

    Although it's wanting here and there, with some help from the spars box and/or some aftermarket parts, it will build into a really neat looking model.

    I'm hoping this turns into a fad as I would love to have more of these large-scale nose-section models; thinking of a Marauder, B-25, or Ju-88 :)

    Mission Models + Aqua Gloss troubleshooting

    Hey Matt,

     

    That's a total bummer.

    I suspect your second coat of Aqua Gloss was shot as a wet coat over the first coat? I've done something very similar myself and concluded that I applied a wet coat too aggressively and the excess thinner in the Aquagloss ate through the underling coats. I agree with Out2gtcha that your best bet is to let it cure a few weeks, buff out with using Micromesh (6,000-8,000 grit), and re-shoot. Your fortunate in that the Mission metallics tolerate these kinds of "repairs" better than most other metallics in my hands i.e., the new coat can be successfully blended with the underlying coat. In addition, the fragility of the Aluminum and Yellow coats suggests, to me, a lack of sufficient binder or cross-linker in your mix. As you know Mission uses polyurethane  as a cross-linker and the amount of polyurethane (in the forms of the Mission Poly additive or Mission Clear Primer) added to the mix is at the discretion of the user. When I had a similar problem I upped the percent of Polyurethane (in my case Clear Primer) in my mix and the resulting coats were much hardier.     I'm sitting on more than a few SW kits and this Tiger Moth is par for the course with those folks: beautiful.

    Sorry for the delay.

    I'm building the new ARMA FM-2 and my refs show a Matt White (FS37925) for the undersides.

    For my build, I used Mission White to which I added a few drops of Elfenbein (roughly a white-bone color) making it a slightly cream-colored white that looks good to my eye.

    New Mini Paint Jars

    Hey Ray,

    Note that in the picture, our jar is filled with straight acetone.

     

    Yes, they can withstand lacquer/enamels, ?, for years and years since they're made from a laboratory grade plastic (polyethylene terephthalate , PET), which can 

     withstand chemicals even stronger than lacquer.

    All of the paint mixing/measuring/storage tools on MPS are made of  PET and that's why ALL ARE 100% GUARANTEED :)

    New Mini Paint Jars

    Hey Guys,

     

    We have a new Mini Paint Jar that's a great replacement ye olde Testors/Model Masters glass bottles.

    They're good for use with lacquers, don't leak, have gradations, are stackable, and come with stainless steel mixing balls.

    This is an item we've been planing for a while.

    By obtaining large stocks we're pleased to offer 6 bottles  per set for just $5.85.

    Not too shabby :)

     

    Each set comes with a mixing table for preparing percent dilutions using the gradations on the bottles.
