  1. Bit more done tonight. Compared to the chore of builing Revell's 72nd scale Memphis Belle this so far is a dream. I love kits like this that as you build the sprues start to fit back in the box. How I'm going to manage to paint the old girl once she's assembled is daunting. So is having to use filler with this many rivets. Little bit of artistic licence on the bottle on the oxygen tanks. At first I thought it was a fire extinguisher but while painting I thought it could be a portable oxygen cylinder and probably should be painted yellow. But I'm not changing it now.
  2. Bit more done tonight. Why do I buy fabric seatbelts thinking yeah they'll be great. Then spend 3 hours swearing and loosing parts. Then when ive finished saying yes they look good but I'm never doing them again.... Every WWII plane i buy ends up with fabric belts. I never learn. Everything is clean and shiny looking as it's waiting for the gloss to harden before weathering... Oh and some artistic licence on the side panels. Used tissue paper and beige paint.
  3. It's painted on. Mixed up a base colour then dabbed Revell 84 (leather brown) and 85 (brown) on with a cocktail stick. Then used an old hardened brush to drag paint in direction of grain then used a large drybrush to soften it up. Then I went back and put some knots it with the leather brown and cocktail stick. I'm pleased with it so far. I've also made some cushions for the seats and put some kitchen paper on the sidewalls where the quilted effect is.
  4. So after a few hours last night and tonight. I'm here with her. Added some Milliput around the base of the control sticks. But all OOB so far. Need to varnish and weather later on.
  5. I'm hoping to. I couldn't decide whether to build this or the A-10 I've recently gotten hold of.
  6. She's a big bird. Quite daunting when you see the size. But I'll take it bit by bit same as any other model. Paint call-outs seem to be a little off on the inside. As it's the Sally-B she's not going to historically accurate. Bit of a mix of wartime painting inside and how she is now. Made a start on her last night. Just a bit of paint work and some prep work removing ejection pin marks. I'm going to be using Kitsworld stencils and decals. Plus some Eduard seat belts. I may buy the Gun Barrels from Master later on. But she's going to be wall mounted with 2 fighter escorts.
  7. Thanks Tony I thought it might be referring to the wing folds or lack thereof on some of them.
  8. Without appearing a bit dense. What's a hard wing?
  9. To yet re-resurrect the thread. Stunning work. I shall be holding on to this for inspiration in my upcoming G build. I'm going for Sally-B in her current guise with one side as the Belle.
  10. Stunning work. Ive got my eye on one so I might pinch a few ideas if I may.
  11. I do have a Spit in the same scheme. I'm on the lookout for a Hurricane too. The story behind the colour scheme is really interesting though. Flt Lt James Nicolson was the only fighter command pilot to receive the Victoria Cross in the Battle of Britain. He'd shot down a ME109 but in the process he was wounded. He was in the process of bailing out when he saw another german fighter. So he climbed back into the seat and shot down the second fighter and then bailed out. When he landed he was fired upon by the homeguard despite him protesting that he was an RAF pilot.
  12. I wouldn't mind another go at one. But SWMBO said i can't have more than one of each plane. :-( Spoilsport. But it keeps us both happy lol.
