  1. Thanks, Iain. Blender is not well suited for precision modelling (there are a few addons that help, but still ... ). Blender is much better at organic modelling for characters and such. In other words, I don't plan to use it for 3D-printing parts for the Viggen or other builds. Cheers Rainer
  2. Dear folks, back in 2001 I made a little sketch of a somewhat derelict robot (an early model ... ). I had the Idea to model it in Cinema 4D and animate it. Fast forward 20 years. In December 2021, I stumbled over that sketch and thought: Let's do it. This time in Blender. I'm an absolute newbie to blender and the going was tough. Anyway, this is where I am at the moment: Way to go, but it's a start. But don't worry, I will get back to the Viggen ... Cheers Rainer
  3. I really like that cardboard all moving vertical fin Great work, Dan. I'd call that "rapid prototyping" ... Cheers Rainer
  4. I 2nd that, Jay. I keep forgetting that most of the time, not only occasionally. I especially keep forgetting all the failures along the way. Chuck, pristine work on the engine! I like it very much. Cheers Rainer
  5. Wow, this is such a great resource for you, guys. I envy you. Now, if we had such a resource for post war jets ... Just dreaming. Cheers Rainer
  6. Yes indeed! It's looking great. And you are on the finish line already. That landing gear looks spectacular. Cheers Rainer
  7. Oh, come on, make it happen. Decent or not Cheers Rainer
  8. Very nice, Sean. I can't wait to see that beauty with the masks removed. Cheers Rainer
  9. Absofreakinglutely stunning! You do things in 1:32 I wouldn't even attempt in 1:24. Cheers Rainer
  10. Oh, sweet! Your patience must be out of this world. Really nice paint job! Cheers Rainer
  11. Thanks again, guys. It really helps to keep up the mojo. Cheers Rainer
  12. Morning gents, thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, I know that the doors can be opened. Unfortunately, because I got the spacing of the stiffeners wrong , the proportions of the pipes and tubes are also wrong. So the door will be closed ... Well, actually I have no idea where I could display this big bird in our home. So, if I can do the mighty Viggen justice, I consider to donate it to one of the wings that actually flew it. Thanks a lot, Kev! Cheers Rainer
  13. Don't keep your expectations too high, Stoffe. I am not sure that the updates will be more frequently in the future ... Cheers Rainer
  14. Just noticed, that three Viggen build threads are on page 1 of the Works in Progress section. That will probably never happen again. Viggen rules Cheers Rainer
  15. Dear fellow modellers, the second update in one month! This must be a first in this thread Looking at pictures of the right MLG well of a Jaktviggen you could get the idea that the guys at Saab had a couple of meters of pipes and tubes lying around that they just put in some unoccupied space in the MLG well. It looks messy (sixties style ... ). So does my rendition of the MLG well. And, what's more, unlike Jetmads I got the spacing of the stiffeners completely wrong. Sigh. Too late, I won't change anything. As I said in my previous post, nothing of this part of the MLG well will be visible once the main gear door is installed. And that's a good thing. Anyway, here are some pics: I'll install some more pipes and then I will proceed to the parts of the MLG well, that will be visible. As allways, thanks for looking. Cheers Rainer
  16. That's looking very good. Are you planning to skin that bird with aluminium like Peter (airscale) does with his models? Cheers Rainer
  17. Well, the title says it all. Here is a video (english subtitles are available). At about 6 minutes into the video it gets interesting. Really the end of an era Cheers Rainer
  18. Hahaha! I can relate to that ... I can't wait to see those parts installed (and painted ) Cheers Rainer
  19. Superb Will you add the "frog eyes" to the RWR? Cheers Rainer
  20. Jetmads and YOU did a great job on the exhaust and especially the thrust reverser. This section is a marvelous piece of engineering, on the real deal as well as on the model. Cheers Rainer
