I could not agree with you more Max. I to will not visit threads if I do not want to, BUT sometimes it is a thread I would like to follow and it does get boring and annoying when so many threads get dragged way off the original topic and worse when it becomes another wish list.

Pete I promise I have not forgotten. Life has had lots of twists and turns, they have been going on a little to long, and projects have suffered unfortunately. Some distractions have been model related then others a little more personal. I have this project and others still in the works and hope to complete them, I just do not want to make any more promises that I cannot keep. However I will keep you guys informed and you will be the first to know as and when these get done, I am hoping soon, but have said that before.

Hi John I understand what you are saying but not everything can be in one place, that is why it is structured the way it is. I used to be the same as you, but as time has gone on I scan through all the various places on this forum and others, because so often there are jewels in other areas, RATHER than loads of endless WISH lists that keep appearing just with different titles, with the same kits just being asked for over and over again.

Hi John WOW thanks for rising this point. As a vendor I have contacted the leaders on this exact point a few times, and have either not been given an answer or been ignored. Now I will make it very clear right at the outset that I contribute to LSP and have a yearly sub, and am very willing to pay that, as the guys on this forum above any other give me tremendous support and encouragement, which is often worth more than money, and that comes from all including the leaders of the forum. However as I am not directly involved with this particular product or another that I shall mention I feel I can comment in support of other one man business or small companies. What I have found is that IF an outsider or friend puts up a post on the front page about a new product by a small sole trader then it often gets to stay? If however a vendor places it on the front page it gets moved, this have happened in this case to Model Monkey and recently Eli of Zotz Decals put up post and that was moved. However there are a few vendors out there that always seem to make the front page and stay on the front page and quite a few do not post on here very often themselves and or have a paid vendors space. In summary I fully understand it is a difficult and tricky balance but I do feel that there needs to be parity across the board for small vendors, and all should be encouraged to take up a legitimate vendors board, and they cannot come with the nonsense it is too expensive. It is very reasonable, one of the cheapest around and for the money they charge and make on their products it is easily affordable. More guys paying and supporting LARGE SCALE PLANES just mean that it can get better for everyone. I hope that this is all taken in the spirit that is meant in. cheers Ali

Hi Scott, thanks for the input. I scanned through the video as well and saw that they are the same parts. Did not pick up on the nose wheel, but I do not think that will change the front strut seeing they have just reproduced that in metal. The question now is it worthwhile me doing the main u/c struts in brass? Many have asked for them, but now they have these metal ones, and it sound like from the video that they will be available as a separate set, will the guys want to purchase a brass set from me? I have just received more nose castings and will keep those available, as although, as everyone knows not 100% prototypical I personally still prefer the design over the split metal yoke design. It would be interesting to hear the feedback from the guys here on LSP. Cheers Ali

Are there any pictures out on the metal landing gear, I am interested to see how they have approached it before I decide if it worthwhile developing more brass parts. If they have used the metal parts that were previously shown where the nose wheel, horseshoe yoke is in two pieces, then I think I prefer my approach. I am still intrigued how metal to metal joints are to be assembled, that will be strong, and look good, maybe I have not figured that out yet or have not acquired those skills.

I think the size of the struts is also complicated by trying to make things to SCALE, sometimes scale has to be beefed up to make things work in practice.

This was the Montex kit originally for those that do not know, then I acquired the masters for this and other Montex kits when I owned A2Zee Models. I addded the decals as most only had decals previously, when I then gave up the Alley Cat range it was taken over by Alec, of what then became Alley Cat models. i have no idea who has done the current casting, however the struts should all have brass inserts in them, Montex was one of the first doing these subjects and preceded Silver Wings etc. and lead the way in the early to mid 2000’s.

All I have to say to this thread, you guys just make me laugh. Some great ideas and super wish listing again, I would buy some of the subjects myself. Ok second point, just because I can, how many of you really, no I mean really understand the costs involved in producing a kit, the manufacturers need to look after their own pockets in the first place, have the required reference materials they need and lastly if a person or a group of people do not have an interest in a subject then they just cannot get excited about it and back it with their own cash.

As far as the pods are concerned, there are at least 2 distinctly different shaped ones. The one shown on the ICM video / catalogue is distinctly square corners, and very box shape. The one shown in the picture above has rounded core era, I think it is longer and I think it has two wheels at the front with what looks to be one in the centre position at the rear. If I am correct the more box shape one was used as a workshop or as ‘office’ logistical space, where as the rounded one was the medical centre type. I may not have all my facts correct but there are different shaped pods for sure.

Aerocraft Models has a new full kit in two scales and two decal alternatives. FAIREY Tactical Strike Aircraft GOR.339 PROJECT 75. The kit is fully designed in CAD and fully 3D printed, it contains a total of 57 parts, 56 are printed resin and the canopy is cast in clear resin. There is an option to either choose ‘Lo Viz’ OR ‘Hi Viz’ decals. The kit is produced in both 1/144 scale and 1/72 scales each scale has the same number of parts and the kits are identical other than the size. This was to be a huge aircraft to deliver the Red Beard nuclear weapon, two of them are included to be fitted to the weapons bay. The kit has been drawn, developed over the last few months by Chad Summers and myself. We were given a huge amount of information and help by Joe Warner Cherrie, who has a wealth of information and knowledge on PAPER / PROTOTYPE / WHAT-IF subjects. Oh do not get me started the U.K. measures road distance in miles BUT sells petrol (gas) you know it by, in litres…….go figure that. Oh how I long for my place of birth at times, South Africa, so much more advanced than the so called major players in the world.

Hi Guys Thank you all for your continued support financially and generally pushing me along. Everything I said in October is still somewhere in the works, and I prefer not to get too far ahead in announcements as I am not good at keeping to them. Chad and I have been working on projects and it has been a lot of work, but I am doing many trials on printing and various printable resins and that takes a lot of time and money for little of now reward, well for now, but hopefully it will assist me in the future. The project will probably break cover this week, however most of you will be disappointed as it is in 1/72 and 1/144, but it is a large what-if / paper prototype of a British jet, it is large……bigger than many 1/48 and 1/32 scale aircraft. As said above the process knowledge that has been gained on this will also help with further full kit projects, which are far to numerous to list or mention. However not all will be to LSP scale, but there will be more and the existing list of conversions and upgrades in LSP scales. There is no Anson planned Max, but the Chipmunk is still in process, but with the testing carried out this will be cast main parts and smaller 3D printed as there is no way that delicate raised rivets can be 3D printed over the large complex shapes without loosing most of them in post processing the printed parts. What I mean is that the larger flatter 3D printed surfaces do need a very light sand to obtain a good surface finish and once that is done the raised rivets will be removed. (Others may argue this point, BUT believe me I know, I have boxes of trial printed parts to prove my findings. For perspective a 6mm rivet in 1/32 is 0.18mm…….. so easily lost in a tickle of sanding and painting, and I do not want OVER SIZE details so it looks like a toy……. Therefore I will cast the main sections as the Chippie is one of those that does need some raised detail rivets, especially in the larger scales. Well I best get back to doing some test assembling and CAD work……

I am truly amazed that Ukraine is doing as much as it can under the circumstances. I am really not sure that can survive on plastic models being produced when they have a war to fight and food to grow and harvest. I also heard the other day many areas only get about 8 hours of electricity a day. I can just imagine if this was happening in many ‘western countries’ we would just go into melt down, but they just keep going.
