Bill Cross
I'm doing an F8-1b in L'Armee de l'Aire service in Indochina, and the aircraft were all beat to hell from the weather. Were the control surfaces metal (and therefore likely to weather) or fabric (and therefore liable to fade, but not chip or peel)?
LSP_Ron
Ailerons, rudder and elevators were doped fabric. Flaps are metal. Ron Bill Cross
Oldbaldguy
Color topcoats on fabric will peel parallel with the airflow if improperly applied, showing silver (aluminized clear dope) underneath. Not sure this was an issue for the French in Nam, however. Bill Cross
