KUROK
In all these years, I never tried Humbrol in my airbrush. Just did a little session and had forgotten how nice enamels lay down. Acrylics are fine but... oil base is just easy to get a nice coat. I was in a basement room without windows. There was a box fan next to me to move the air away. Also, I had a respirator on my face. I knew is was working because I could not smell any odors. Live on - enamels!!! rafju and dennismcc
Neo
Oh yeah, I mainly use Humbrol, i really love that paint I have a good paint booth and a breather. Im slowly transitioning to AK real colour Laquer, it is one of the paints I feel works just as well BUT it does not brush on as well. So I make sure to have all my cockpit colors in humbrol
dennismcc
I only use enamels, Sovereign Colourcoats, Xtracolor, Model Master, Revell and of course Humbrol, I use the latter for all my detail painting but there are some colours in the Humbrol range that I prefer and as you say it does airbrush really well. Tony C
Life is to short to use acrylics, I’ve never been able to brush paint with them and when spraying, I have never been successful in preventing the paint from lifting, regardless of what preparation I’ve used, when removing masking materials, be that Tamiya tape, Eduard masks or Blue/White Tac (other tapes, masks or Tac are available, will an equal failure rate)! Enamels (or occasionally lacquers) all the time, as I’m convinced that acrylics are the devils own work! Neo
Woody V
My go-to paint back in the day was first Model Master and then Aeromaster enamels and I agree that they were amazing, especially the Aeromaster paints being formulated by Floquil. My only complaint was that you couldn't pre-thin them. For some reason when you came back later they had congealed into a blob. Back then water based acrylics were coming on the scene but they hated me then and they still hate me so I moved to lacquers, but still have my stash of Aeromaster and Humbrol enamels which I prefer for brush painting details.
