Rob Colvin
Does the outboard cannon stick a little farther out? In some pics the outer cannon appears to be longer and in others all cannons appear the same length. Thanks
LSP_Ron
They do but the barrels tips are exactly side by side i.e. if you ran a line across the barrel tips to the fuse they would intersect the fuse C/L at 90 degrees just like the wing spar. The leading edge tapper makes them look longer. Chek and Out2gtcha
Chek
Yes, the mid-wing spar is the fixed reference point that the cannon bay mounts are referenced to. With the slight sweep on the leading edge, the outboard cannon actually do protrude further, even though the cannon units are identical in length. mattlow
Which means the access hatches and bulges should show the same small stagger..?

My single biggest regret, career wise, is that I never worked in the aircraft industry. While my father did work at McDonnell Douglas (engineering department) through the years that the company was building the Phantom and then the Eagle, and brought home several non-restricted drawings for me to have, I just never seemed to get around to applying there.
