Gerhard
My 1st Tamiya kit. Be gentle folks, I'm still a noob. I never do the crew members, but I thought I will give it a bash. All brush painted: I have to schemes planned, either a RAF bird fro, North Africa, or SAAF one out of Italy. Will have to decide when the new decals arrive, as the kiy ones just disintegrate. hamfists nz
I think everyone hand paints figures don't they? It's too difficult to airbrush something that small. (It is for me) Maybe cos it's 1/48 nobody is commenting but it looks like you're doing a nice job..those engines look pretty awful for a tamiya kit?! You'd think they'd give you more to work with than that??
Gerhard
They will be under the cowlings in any case, so not much to see.
Gerhard
Going to have to park this build for now until new decals from the UK arrive. The kit decals are way too old, and just disintegrate the minute you touch them. I tried treating them with a clear coat, but that didn't help either. It's OK, I decided on the SAAF them anyways. Maybe start with the Airfix 1/72 B17 or 1/48 Stuka. Not sure yet. Jeff
Gazzas
I'm building the Airfix 1/48 Stuka right now. Some sink holes, but otherwise a fail safe kit, so far. I've assembled everything but the bombs and the canopy. I also got the Shark Mouth decals from NG Models in France. A very nice set of decals. One thing about the Airfix Stuka that irritated me was the lack of swastikas. NG Models also makes some resin wheels for the Stuka. The kit wheels have soft details. I used a scriber and saw to hopefully improve mine. Gaz
Gerhard
Well. going to start with mine now. I'm just perplexed that I have a serious lack of Luftwaffe colors, as I always tend to build the Allied side of things. Will have to see what I can come up with. Gerhard
Decals finally arrived from the UK after a 6 week wait. Maybe get some traction on this again, but in the interim I started the 1/48 Stuka.

Nice going on that Beaufighter, btw! Edit: Gazzas, I assume they leave the swastikas out of the kit so that they can sell it in Germany without running into trouble or having to print another decal sheet without it.
