Guest Peterpools
Fly Hurricane MK 1 Does anyone have the kit and is it actually a MK1 with the shorter nose, that can be built as a BOB Hurricane Thank You Peter Edited February 26, 2017 by Peterpools
Kagemusha
Yes, both Mk.I kits have the same parts, so the trop can be made as a BoB aircraft.

Chek
Techmod decal sheet (TM32045) gives a selection of RAF BoB (Polish) Hurricane Mk I squadrons, with stencil data. Although the Fly supplied stencils look equally good as the specialist sheet. I haven't used them, but they look very good, and Techmod have a good reputation. Chek
A lot of the detail improvements Quang made on his Mk II build (WIP last summer) would apply to the Mk I as well (wing fairings, Dzuz fasteners, extra fuselage rivets etc.), apart from the obvious differences. Fly supply a DH prop unit and two Rotol spinner types with very usable relevant blade styles for each. Also the resin main wheels supplied are (very nice) but of the small hub three spoke type which may not be entirely correct for the BoB period itself. Certainly many early Hurris were fitted with the larger hub, five spoke wheel type. Not sure if the ability to interchange with Spitfire wheels is a myth, or it it happened with the real thing. quang
Fly Hurricane Mk1 is ordered and on it's way. Peter Great decision, Peter. You're in for an interesting ride to say the least. Being away from my desk (and the whole modelling scene) for some months, I didn't even know that Fly had released the Mk I version. If you have any question concerning the build, I'd be glad to help. Just ask. All the best, Quang Chek
David66
Chek Thank you for the info - will be looking into the decals. Peter I might have some spare decals from the PCM kits, got the rag-wing and metal wing versions, if you need them, although I'm keeping the Stanford Tuck ones for myself ! Guest Peterpools
Chek Thank you for the information on the kit. I'll be doing my research over the next months as I'm planning on building the Hurricane after the ZM Owl and that's going to be a long project. Guest Peterpools
David Thansk you for the offer and with the build so many months away, I'm still out to lunch on what the specifics are going to be. Peter
