Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Hope everone has had a Happy New Year, I have been working on the IFR Probe over the last several days and have made a little progress. It is just about complete with the exception of the hydraulic plumbing and electrical. Here are some photos of work to date. First up are the modifications to the airframe including the hinge boxes, door seal flange and upper and lower structural areas on the bay. sandokan 1
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Upper and Lower Structure Does anyone have a photo of the lower floor of the bay? I am sure there has to be some type of structrue there. Derek B and sandokan 2

Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 These photos are of the Door modifications. Derek B 1
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 This is the Probe Lock, I think. I have no fact to base this on only my basic understand of operation. sandokan, Marcel111, HerculesPA_2 and 1 other 4
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 This is the Door Control Valve; again I am guessing. The small actuating lever is operated by the main deployment arm when it is full stowed. Derek B and sandokan 2
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Probe Actuator, I am not real sure of the purpose of the "boat" looking structure that it is mount to and in. Derek B and sandokan 2
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Actuator installed and attached to deployment arm. Large fitting below attach point is for the hydraulic line attachment. sandokan and Derek B 2
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Here are several shots of the Deployment Arm, Door Control Arm and other linkages. Derek B and sandokan 2

Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Nearly all of this was done from the photos on pages 8 and 9 of Squadron's #38 Crusader Walk Around. I sure could use some help with photos of the lower part on the bay before I commit to my "best" guess as to what type of structure might be needed to support the outer skin of the bay. I may have to take it to work with me and get our aerospace structural engineers to give me their best guess. I went to this level of detail because one this scale needs it and secondly because in my Inflight Display the Probe will be up front to the viewer. Once I get the plumbing done I will be moving on to the Speed Brake. Barry Derek B and sandokan 2
Barry Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 If you have not picked up one of Harold's seats from AMS for the F-8 I highly recommend you do so. They are very nicely detailed and will add greatly to you cockpit area. Barry Derek B 1
