That would be a pretty nice addition in resin with all of the linkage etc.....it's not a seat but maybe Harold?

Shoot a message over to Master Details...he does some of the best resin on earth!!

If he gets enough interest. I know we will have really fine burner for the F-8.

The Hasegawa kit has the same raised panel around the vents that the Trump kit has (or Vise versa)

You can see it clearly on this build in the ARC forum

So it seems Hasegawa got it wrong too..........

Strange how no one has ever really pointed this out until now.

Yeah, seems like Trump brings that out more in people than Hasegawa... B)

At least its no way near as bad as the raised panels all over the Tamiya Phantoms. UGH!

If I were going to make the effort to fare it in, I think I would go the Magic Sculpt route. Easier to blend in and smooth. Very little if any sanding, smooth it with a wet finger, no detail loss. Most likely I will leave it as is, or just scribe the vents a little deeper and sand the panel down a bit.

Nice photos of both earlier and later style burner petals in Squadron's F-8 Walk Around #38, pg 45.

If your build requires the earlier style and want a more detailed burner you might consider the F-102 style burner from Master Details.

I have one of the MasterDetails F-102 burner cans for my F-100 build (it's a beauty too), I need to pull it out to see how it fits on the Crusader.

Before everybody starts pooping on Hasegawa. You should take a look at a few more examples.

They all look flush to me and more importantly the much more rounded radome that is so prominent on the F-8E is there on Hase kit and blends nicely into the fuse. If it had the slab sided radome of earlier crusaders it would be pretty obvious. The older Revell kit also has the rounded radome.

Edit:

Looks like the nose has both a raised panel, but also has the blending seen in Barry's first post. Here is the raw Hase plastic. You can clearly see the round radome blending into the fuse, but you can also see that Hase put a raised panel on top of the blended area. A few swipes with a sanding stick and that raised area is a none issue.

I agree Steve,

I compared my Hasegawa kit when I was first looking over the Trumpeter offering and though the panels are raised I also saw the fairng and the more rounded radome. I think the Hasegawa kit is more accurate in this respect though not completely so.

The vent panels on the Hasegawa kit could be easily be brought into line with a little judicious sanding.

Do not over look the raised radome latch detail just above the intake lip either.

I hope to make more progress on my burner over the next couple of days.

Barry ;)
