Not that i know of but in my opinion, the B&W photos suggest late war colours. Thanks for the comments.

By the way guys, I forgot to tell you that all the German canopies and seat belts are from Radu Brinzan. i think that they are the best and really make a model stand out.

That aircraft did not have a long life and was not flown much before it crashed during operation Bodenplatte.  The weathering I tried to simulate was the wear and tear from use, hence the chipping and scratching which would be a result of the inferior quality of the paint at that stage of the war and also effects due to the weather conditions at the time. As can be seen from the photos, there was snow an hence mud and other related dirt. Glad you like it. thanks for looking and for all your comments. Will have to check about the mods i had carried out to turn it into a G14AS but if i remember correctly it was the 30mm cannon with the large bulge in the cockpit. the rest were mostly internal differences due to the engine and the fuels. Will get back to you on that one, its been a while since this model was completed.

This is my take on the plane flown by Herbert Maxis on the fateful mission which was his last. This 109 is well documented and was even rebuilt and is located in a museum. The kit is Hasegawa, the markings are all sprayed on using Montex masks except for the swastikas on the tail. The figure is from masterbox and the snow was made using marble powder and microballoons. Hope you like it.

Geoff, modelling is all about making mistakes especially when you are scratchbuilding. You start getting good when you do something after five tries instead of 10. I also normally do things many times and when i try out something and it comes right first go, wow that makes my day. You are doing brilliant work and have mastered the use of aluminium.

Wow Geoff that is truly awesome. How i love it when you put in an update. There is so much to learn. The tunnel is brilliant and looks as real as it can get. What else can i say, it is just right.

This is really brilliant as usual Geoff. I really love your work, the more stangs you build, the better they look and the better your work is. How about calling you Stangman?!!!

Wow, what a great dioramas. I really like them because there is something happening. I have the feeling it's not just a static thing. Lovely.

absolutely superb - my kind of modelling this - just goes to show a kit is just a canvas waiting for an artist

    On to the gun bay

    And the painting begins
All NMF painted with Testors metallizers using a brush. I found out that you get a better result and its less susceptible to coming off at the slightest touch. Sealed with future.
And that's it, all closed up

Detailing or rather rebuilding the undercarriage. Wheels are from mastercasters

    Detailing a trumpeter engine

Engines and wings next.  The engines are from Trumpeter kits. They were mated to the hasegawa wings.  The leading edge slats are made from sheet aluminium.
The engine to wing fairing is made of milliput
One of the planes will have a missing engine. A new one to be fitted in its place.
At last it all goes together, fuselages mated to wings.
The stressed aluminium effect can be seen in this photo
