  1. U'er work is amazing for sure and the way u have done all those detailed parts are really great. And if figure u'll be done sooner than u think.Larry
  2. Alfonso, Working with a kit like that brings back memories as to my first kit as to it being a solid wood model back in the mid 50's.But for the Guillow's kits and the way their made. But u and erwin as well have proved to me that any kit, being balsa or plastic or vac for that matter can be made into a show stopper or the one u'er doing for u'er friend as to having it hanging in his work room.It will be a conversation piece to say the least.Larry
  3. U have it covered very well as to making those parts using the monogram kit.Keep up the great work u'er doing.I think u'er friend will go APE! when he sees the finished project.Larry
  4. Alfonso, Have a few ideas for u as to u not pulling out u'er hair.If u'er going to do a full cockpit thing. Then i would use some thin cardboard sheets on the inside.Index cards to mind and the glue u'er using will work as well. But i would get at least a bigger bottle as to save on u'er money,if u know hat i mean.Same for the radio compartment and the waist gun areas. And for the nose inside. The cards would be the same way to go.Since the cards can be shaped the way u want them. U'll have to use alot of pins to keep them in place as well. The tail gun position is going to be the trick for u as to forming the cards.Or use alot of stringers and fill it in that way and cover with a some type filler and sand it down. One ting about thin sheet balsawood. It breaks apart as to molding it to curved surfaces. One should soak it in water over night. That way the wood will adhere to the curves and etc. to the fuselage. But with that.U should use a super glue or some type of glue that will adhere to the wet balsawood. But let the balsawood dry some before applying the glue.U will here and there on the fuselage after covering it have a few splits or cracks in the wood. But after drying and lightly sanding them down. They'll be ok and also here.Use a filler of some type. As for getting inside the waist gun positions on her.I would cut the fuselage in half aft of the bulkhead from the radio compartment. There is not way to go into it unless u do that.If not,Then u'er stalled at this point. But if u go as to what i suggested to u as to cutting it in half. That way the index card thing will work for u as to covering up the stringers on the fuselage. And if the bulkhead just aft of the radio compartment is not there to keep the stringers and from popping out.U will have to make one as a support to keep them in place. I did this on my vac 17G and it worked out ok.And if u do this.U should make another bulkhead as a supprt to keep it lined up right. Cut out all the clear parts and where they go and set them in place and mark them out,so u'll know what is what when it comes time to place them into the fuselage. And watch out for the ones that on either side of the radio compartment. Those can give u fits,if u do not get them straight across. And sitting at the right heigth on each side. I think this is enough intel for now.And hope this will help u out as well.Feel free to pick my brain when needed.U'we doing a great job and do not let her get u down.Larry
  5. U have a good start there as to showing u'er friend what he's getting. And as to u taking the pic's as to the steps u'er taking gives everyone what u'er doing a good idea as to how big the 17 is going to be.And just what will u be using to skin it?Larry
  6. JR, tRIED TO SEND U A REPLY AS TO PLANS FOR THE p-61.u'ER MAILBOX IS FULL.Let me know if u wish the ID vac plans i have.Larry
  7. Glen, Now that's what i call a ceiling and love that MP-40 on the wall.Larry
  8. Looks like the wring is a silver grey or a light grey.I think also, that the FS color would be a light ghost grey for a color match. And those pic's are great as well.Larry
  9. Keith, U know u'er FW's and that paint job is really looking good. Now,Let's get it done as to what do u have on the work bench after the FW?Larry
  10. Jeff, When u get done with that Mistel build of the 162 and the cradle. Can i talk u out of a copy of the plans?Larry
  11. Allok, I see that u got it going and now for the fini!LLLLOOOKKKKIIIINNNGGG GOOD!Larry
  12. ajw1977, Can help u here as two of them i built along time ago.Built the vac 88 with a FW-190 as to the old hase kit and the other with a 109 revell kit.Used aluminum R/C type wing edge strips to support the fighters on each one.The squadron in action book for the JU-88 shows the mistel's and for markings. The markings for any of the fighters was as to factory markings that applied other than squadron markings and etc. Charles is right as to the book he mentioned, but as for the revell JU-88 kit that's out on the market. It's the only game in town unless someone comes out with the conversion. And to add to this and what i have seen in the squadron in action book. Some early 88's still had the front section as to the cockpit still attached, before the versions with the two different warheads were developed.I have the warheads that are vac if u wish to get one or two of them. The posting of the pic's u sent with u'er reqest are just right and they will be very helpful in u'er build.Larry
  13. Here is some more pic's of my B-26 as to the first WIP that my daughter posted awhile back. Progress is slow, but I need to proceed slowly and try not to forget anything as to all the intel I have. The first pic's that were taken are the wings. I use balsawood chunks to help me fill in holes that will help when I apply the bondo. I do not want to use a lot of bondo when i do vacs. It makes work more prolonged and as to sanding parts down and to have them blended in. The other pic's are the fuselage halves that have items added as the vent tubes. I guess that runs from the back bulkhead just before the top turret. And to the walk way that was posted over on HS from a fellow modeler, that helped me with the rest of the items painted and how I glued items into place on both sides of the fuselage. The cockpit as to the detail set that came with the kit was added and some detail parts were made as to using the monogram kit as a reference for said added items to the side walls of the pit. Comments appreciated. Larry
  14. Ron, Intel off google and a color ref says silver for the wells.Larry
  15. astro32, As to the pits being interior green. The wells are the same color as the all over semi-gloss blue. And also the gear legs.Did one in vac and followed the color scheme off the google site.Larry
  16. zerosystem, The spad is ok as for any vac 32nd scale kit from combat. But as of late and to jeff robert's who now runs and has the mold from the former owner who passed a few years. The spad is some what better than the first run of the kit and better as to the parts on the carrier sheet.Have not built one.But that could change as to getting one.Larry
  17. Now that's vac building all the way.Great work glen.Larry
  18. There was a issue of Fine Scale back around the mid 90's as to an article that was named.Wing art work ruled the skies. But i could be wrong. And for those who lived in the hay day as to when models were everywhere and i mean everywhere as to the following stores.Kresges,Five and Dime,K-mart,U'er mom and pop hobby shops and the little old toy store that had to keep up with others selling model kits. Us older guys do remember the good old days when u could pick up a kit for the sum of .50cents up to 2.00 depending on the kit and the company who made it.The old revell kits that some of u have in u'er stash are now rare and the box art is the thing now and what u have is for some pricey and to some a thing as t wantign and adding to his collection. The wooden kits come to mind as to the box art and the contents of th kit and some who bought those wooden kits.Just through them in the trash instead of applying ones talents and know how as to building them. Those were the Strombecker kits and they were some what ahead of their time. But back then.A model kit was a model kit for all or for some.Larry
  19. The pic with the port side fuselage has the 1/8th of an inch of basswoood stringer running on the inside on the edges of the fuselage for strength and will help when it comes time to glue the fuselage halves together. And will also give a place for the bondo i will use after the bondo has dried.I do this all the time as doing vacs and it helps out in the long run.Larry
  20. The WIP Combat Models of the B-26 Marauder is a step by step for all to see and other pics here are for what you can get as to detail sets and etc. If you have questions about the detail sets that you see here, let me know and I'll tell you what's what. There is a pic of a fuselage half that has a strip of basswood as a strengthener as the pic shows. I use it all the time as to giving it a solid base for handling and gluing the fuselage halves together. Wings, elevators and tail fin Nacelles Cowlings w/ air intakes R2800s for engine and other things More pics to follow. Larry
  21. This is the Combat kit of the Yak-9B and this was easy... it took me 10 days to do. Normally when I do a vac, I do take my time, but this little kit was a honey and everything is scratchbuilt as to the pit and with added parts from my parts stash and robbing a couple of kit parts along the way. Comments, remarks are welcomed. Larry
  22. Perry, As to conversion for the 38.Weapons shop makes one as to the E,F,G and H.Built tow and their good for anyone who wants to convert the revell to a G or the H model. The weapons shop has the bottom of the nacelles in resin.Jerry has i think two conversions as to a recon version and the F,G,or H model 38 and same as to the right canopy for either in vac.Give him a ring and he'll give u all the info u need.Larry
  23. My daughter will be posting some pic's of my current vac build of a WWII medium bomber from combat. And as soon as my daughter posts them.It will be up to u as to what u think and feel as to it being vac.And this build, will be a step by step of the build.Showing all the ends and outs of doing a vac kit.Larry
  24. Considering the pit color as RLM66 and the gear bays being RLM02.The engine bay is and should be RLM^^.Or unless someone else saying different. But i'm sure it's 66.Larry
  25. JR, One must have more pic's as to the great work u'er doing. But for all.Rome was not built in a day!And never, ever rush a Master Caster.Larry
