  1. In 1/32 scale, my top three are: 20 Tamiya P-51Ds 17 Tamiya F4Us 15 Tamiya F-16s
  2. Been there, done that but still waiting for my T-shirt! Seriously, I've binned a few over the years when I realized the stress of seeing them on the SOD outweighed any sense of satisfaction i would have enjoyed seeing it through.
  3. Gorgeous build, the finish looks just like the real deal. From where I'm sitting, one of the finest builds of the Tamiya P-51D I have seen.
  4. Honestly, I hadn't checked in on this build in quite a while. After seeing your "RFI" post, I had to come back and read through your entire thread. Love the work on this one, from the extra work done to fix some issues to the final finish - a stunning build all around.
  5. Indeed, looks like it was a great day for it. So was this!
  6. Always loved the S-38, never knew there was a kit of one! Though a vac-form kit is not in my wheelhouse, I would love to see this one built!
  7. I like this one a lot, really has the "feel" of an early war Zero. Well done!
  8. Wish them luck on their checkride! I looked at the density altitude at our local airport earlier this week and it was over -3900'. Unfortunately, our old Cessnas don't have heaters to cope with cold that goes along with it. Wish I could have been up there with you!
  9. Awesome! I was hoping to fly today too but had to cancel to stay home with my sick doggie. As much as I love flying, she always comes first. Looks like a beautiful day out there for flying!
  10. Very nice, I think you nailed the color mix.
  11. Thanks Mike, I have yet been unable to find any other images, but will continue to search. I had forgotten about the paint mask forums, if I can find a better image perhaps I'll try over there. Thanks again!
  12. Thank you for stopping by gents, sorry I should have mentioned that I knew about those "D" markings! MikeC - I am all for masks, but don't have the ability to make them myself. I could probably cut out the code letters and possibly the serial numbers, but the nose art is beyond my capabilities. Do you know anyone who could do masks for me?
  13. Having found a photo showing P-51K "Ferocious Frankie" in later markings, and seeing a 1/48 decal sheet from Kagero I would like to add this one to my collection. Has anyone ever seen these markings in 1/32, whether decals or paint masks? I know markings for P-51K's are relatively rare, but I would like to build this one if I can source some markings for it. Kagero 48th scale decals Thank you!
  14. Awesome news, I have hoped they would do the XI ever since their XVII was released!
  15. Hey Pete! Awesome flight indeed, thanks for making me look good! Appreciate the feedback, that L-39 was such a beauty to fly - I can see why pilots love them now. No flying for me for a bit, in the middle of a battle with Covid (my first time) right now. Can't wait to get back in the air, for now all I can do is keep watching our video from that flight. What a day!
  16. Greetings! A couple of weeks ago, I was able to take the flight of a lifetime with our very own, world renown Pete Fleischmann! About a year ago, after obtaining my PPL, Pete offered a flight with him in an L-39 Albatros. At first I thought he was kidding, what are the odds that someone would offer something that amazing? I hesitated at first, then asked if he was serious. OF COURSE! he said. It really did take me a day or so to understand the offer he had laid on the table. How could I say no to something like that? We chatted on the phone about it, and then began the task of finding a day we were both available for the flight and the weather Gods allowed it. After one scrub in October, we were able to make it happen on the 17th of November. Our flight was at Code 1 Aviation in Rockford, IL in an L-39 Albatros "red 21". First of all, the facility and people at Code 1 did an absolutely AMAZING job of making me feel welcome in their facility, I can't thank them all enough for that. But just when I thought I had met some of the greatest people out there, I got to Pete face to face for the first time. Besides being an amazing pilot, he is not only humble to a fault and one of the most personable people I have ever met. After briefing for our flight, we took off on a beautiful November afternoon for the greatest flight I have ever experienced. I got some stick time in the jet, and loved every second of it. To top it all off, we when we returned to Rockford we did a few "fighter breaks" to land and then it was time to call it a day. The sun was just setting, and the view from the cockpit was absolutely unbelievable. Pete- I can't thank you, Lambo, and Buck and the staff at Code 1 enough for truly one of the greatest days of my life and a flight I will never forget. I'm already trying to sell off a kidney to go and do it again...
  17. HELL YES!!! Thank you again Pete, what an awesome time we had.
  18. I think I saw one over at FEP, perhaps we could sneak in at night and take it?
  19. I'm with you guys, if there's a kit I like I'll buy 3 or 4 of them. Or 6, or 12...
  20. After finding some very interesting schemes on one of the AIMS decal sheets for the Bf-109G-6/AS, I decided I would like to build one of these. Outwardly, it looks very similar to the G-10, with narrower propeller blades and the more shallow oil cooler housing. Can anyone help in what is necessary to build a reasonably accurate model of one of these? I have a few of the Hasegawa 109 kits, and am wondering if using the G-10 kit as a base and adding the narrower propeller blades and shallow oil cooler from a G-6 would get me close. The "bumps" on the lower front of the nose would probably need to be removed as well. Is there something else I am forgetting about? Is there a better base kit to work from? I would prefer to use a Hasegawa kit as a base as I have a number of these in my stash. I do not need it to be 100% accurate but would like it be close. Thanks for looking in!
  21. Would "Tally ho ho ho" be appropriate here?
